Okay, brand new unit with the extra dense screen arrived today. I've spent about 20 mins with it so far, but..

-- screen is in fact grainy, but so is the 30" dell LCD I have. I have to decide if I can live with that or not.

-- However, there is a giant dead pixel set that has a cloud around it. That alone has to go.

-- the trackpad is kinda crappy compared to other trackpads I have used.

If I do a clean install of ultimate, is the software for the broadband modem available somewhere?

    More impressions.

-- Okay, yeah, the screen is not good. Washed out colors. Not as vibrant as I'm used to.

-- What design hosehead put the fan on the BOTTOM? I put this thing on my lap and was rewarded with the wrong kind of BJ.

-- Speaking of the fan -- it's cranked at the highest. It's sitting on my desk, with plenty of airflow and it's not doing anything, and it's cranked. I can hear it a few feet away. WTF?

So far, not liking this Dell. :(

    LOL.

I know what you mean about the screen. I was actually thinking about keeping mine with the grainy screen, because while annoying, it was still usable. But then the Dell support pissed me off so much when trying to get it fixed I decided there was no way I was keeping it with the Samsung screen. I was finally able to get it replaced with the LG version and it's one of the best, if not the best, screens I've ever had on a laptop. Yeah, I think it's even better than that Sony I had. I need to take it to an Apple store and compare it to the LED version there. I went and looked at one, and wasn't all that impressed, but the only way to tell for sure would be a side by side comparison.

Lmao on the BJ. I have a Samsung screen but it doesn't look too bad. I can definitely see the grain but not enough to really hinder my picture. No dead pixels that I can see either.

Go to your Nvidia control panel and tinker around with the gamma and digital vibrance, etc, settings. My colors looked a little washed out too at first.
