Got my new laptop. It's ok but I'm not too impressed. Small problems I hope someone here can help me with!

    1) Blocky pics on the internet.

For instance, if you go to yahoo's main page, the yahoo logo is like, BLOCKY or something. Same with most pics on web pages. Or image searches on google. All the small pics look BLOCKY. I can view my digital photos just fine and they look sweet. But reg graphics look weird and not right. Some things like text etc are crystal clear but even here the smilies on the right look pixel-y.

    2) Where'd my wireless adapter go!? It worked the first few times I booted up, saw wireless networks in my apartment building. Now it says "Intel Pro Set/Wireless Software was unable to detect a wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter" HUH? I didn't DO anything!! This thing hasn't even moved from my coffee table!! Where'd it go? I DID do some work, copied over an old hard drive via the usb hookup but it all went smoothly. I've rebooted etc. Where's my Adapter?!!!

    HELP!!!

Thank you in advance. This thing is frustrating me.

OK So my adapter wasn't activated. I had turned it off. I'm an idiot. Please ignore problem #2.

Still problem #1 - blocky graphics. Is it cause this thing is a 17" widescreen baby and the internet is stretching everything? I don't think so everything looks fine just BLOCKY and pixely.

    Thanks in advance folks....

Can you post a screen shot? I'm having a hard visualizing what you're saying.

Do you have the WUXGA (1920x1200) or the WSXGA (1440x900)?

What resolution is your desktop set at?

I had the WUXGA e1705 and yes internet pictures didn't come out very clear--although I wouldn't go so far as to call them "blocky". I think it has a lot to do with the native resolution of your screen and the resolution of the images you are looking at. Your screen basically outclasses the standard internet image.

Not entirely sure what you mean when you say blocky images, but did you check to see your dpi setting? go to display properties>>>settings>>>advanced>>>dpi and make sure it is on 96dpi. If it is 120, then bring it down to 96 and everything should be better.

    And the winner is... FINALSPIRIT!

Ya it was the dpi thing. Now the graphics look crystal clear but **** everything is small. Like where it says File Edit View etc. I know I can change that I think in the reg display properties. So I'll screw around with that.

And so yes I feel it is this screen "outclasses" internet graphics somewhat as a previous poster said.

I just want everything to look big and good.

Thank you all for your help.
