ive read these forums for a while and they have been very useful when picking out a laptop. basically i have a few questions that i was hoping to get some help with now that i finally got the machine, and afterwards i hope to get to reviewing it since i hear people asking alot for 1720 reviews.

well first, the bloatware. i want to get rid of it so my system performs faster obviously. i do have the dell vista disc, but have been told that it will reinstall all of dells trial stuff also. basically, i would like to steer clear of a reinstall right not due to having to fix mediadirect and other stuff i have read about involving drivers in the thread that has the guide explaining it. what i did so far was remove trials of things like AOL and Roxio that i would not use, and then look at my processes and set unnecessary things not to start on startup through msconfig. in the end however i still have like 58 processes when i was done. is this normal with vista? another thing i noticed is that there is anywhere from 8-10 instances of svchost.exe running taking up anywhere from 600KB of memory to 40MB. is there anything i can do to bring my process count down?

I don't think the Vista disk has any of the bloatware, and you can leave the MediaDirect partition alone. If you don't want to reinstall, someone can give you a link to the PC-Decrapifier, or something like that. I don't have it, or I would.

i would like to get this "PC-Decrapifier". is it something that just removes all the bloatware for you or something? i have heard that dell has some option where you can opt out of all the bloatware also...or is that only the XPS. anyhow, if anyone has what tremonti is speaking of a link would be awesome...thanks in advance
