Ok everytime you hit function Fn and the keyboard light button or the screen brightness button. There use to be a onscreen indicator showing the Level of brightness or volume level etc. Somehow these have disapeared and I can not get them back.

That's the Dell Quickset. If you have uninstalled that, that would explain why you no longer see it. You can also run it if maybe you have turned it off.

yup I turned it off got it out of the start up menu. Because I am thinning down the start up processies. Out of the box Dell shipped with like 70 running. Down to 50 now.

Don't miss them Its more Apple MacBook Pro like now. Since the apples don't give that indicatione either.

I am liking the Finger print reader secure Logon. Won't start anything without my Finger Print swipe. Sure beats a Password.

TSA won't like that at the Airports.

You'd be better off with a fresh install. The number of processes is not a good indicator of system performance.
