I am a total NOOB when it comes to laptops, this is my first one. I got the 6000 with WSXGA+ screen. My question is, do i have to get used to this screen? I mean when i go to web sites and such any images have jaggies. Is it just switching to an lcd that i need to get used to?

Got the answer....it's something to do with the images trying to resize and a faulty registry entry that Dell puts in when it ships it's laptops out.....

go here to get the fix.....note also that this should not occur if you use Firefox....it's something to do with IE......

You might have to copy and paste that into your browser's address line..

I am going to do this when I get home later tonight.....post follow-ups!!

I have the WSXGA+ 6000D. I don't have any problems with images on web pages or otherwise. I didn't use the Dell default disks...I used my own version of Windows XP Pro (overwriting Dell Windows XP Home) so it is probably like the previous poster said...a bad Dell default setting. Also I run Firefox instead of IE.

    60GB 7,200 RPM
    DVD burner
    Bluetooth...yada yada

BamBam, glad your problem got fixed.

Other than that, what do you think of the i6000? I am REALLY torn between it and a couple other models and would appreciate any unbiased first-hand information I can get one it.

Is the screeen sufficiently bright? Do you find it comfortable to carry around and use on your lap occasionally? Anything you would change about it?

    Thanks!

well i have only had it for one day now, but i will say that i really do like it. The brightness is fine for me,although i did turn it up while running the battery because the factory setting was to low. I have always had a big monitor, at least a 19 inch, So it does take some time to get used to the smaller size, but a 9300 would have been to big for me to lug around. I cant think of anything i would chane yet, but im sure something will come up.
