    Do this test:
    http://www.dslreports.com/stest

a couple times and see what your average is on both computers. Are you wireless on your 6000? Good Luck!

Are you running on a wireless or wired internet connection?

If it's wireless, then it will always be a bit slower than a wired connection. If there are walls or other objects, especially a T.V. or microwave inbetween you and the router, then that could be a prime cause of your problem.

    Oh, another problem.

My internet randomly shuts off for like 3 or 4 seconds. it's very very annoying.

I think it has something to do with my ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6.

are you running intel 2200 or the 29xx. those cards are really bad. mine was so bad it would randomly shift between dial up speeds and broadband speeds within 10 secs. it generally ran very slowly so i took it out and bought a linksys pci wireless card. much better now.

Actually, the 29xx series are very good. The 2200 series had the problem.

What kind of Internet connection do you have - cable, DSL?

my i9300 had the 2915, as it came from Dell, it was horrible. 1 MBPS BLECH! Joke. I downloaded the intel pro wireless software from intel.com and it made getting a connection faster and kept the connection stronger for longer periods but still, it sucked.

Should I buy another dell laptop (returned mine today), I will take whatever stock unit it comes with and upgrade it with my own 'well researched' parts.
