thanks for the post, I edited your title because it said "Dell X300 drivers posted", the X300 is a graphics card but it's also another Dell machine, the Latitude X300 so this was sort of confusing!

mks_vir is the best virus software out there and I didnt get a single red flag from it when I installed the driver.
-
AVG is saying this download is a virus. Can somebody else confirm then delete the post if so.
-
It is showing up as Trojan horse PSW.Banker.ASO. So, you think it is a problem with AVG?
-
We all know that dell likes to give out patches that have a virus so it can ruin your computer and you have to go out and buy a new Dell....
Get a better virus scanner...

Yeah, AVG must suck. I did not get a virus notification with an online scanner. Can somebody recomend a better free virus software program.

Put this "recommended" update on my 6000 today - have had nothing but trouble since. Running 6000 1.6ghz 730, 1gb, X300, 60gb, XP Home. Ran fine before, so should have remembered the "dont fix it unless it's broken" theory. In any graphics intensive program (games, specifically) the screen goes rainbow after roughly ten minutes, then the machine locks, and I get a blue screen with a critical program stop, "VPU error".
Rolled the version back, and no problems whatsoever. Your mileage may vary. Caveat emptor. -

Ahh I am going to go out on a limb but unless you modified the program files/drivers using a dell update patch wouldn't harm just your computer... It would harm everyone's computer and be pulled as a jacked up flawed patch...
Did you have like omega drivers installed before? Or do you have intergrated graphics LOL... some people have done that one before.
I've installed the patch when it first came out and no problems here so far...
