Nvidia just released beta drivers for this card and others for Vista. I am wondering if they would work for the 8600M GT?

yes, but they literally lock you from using them.

see laptopvideo2go.com for the correct mobile drivers, that your manufacturer is supposed to provide.

What do you mean, they lock you from using them? You mean to tell me that when Nvidia updates their drivers, I won't be able to use them?

Yeah, those are only for desktop cards. Notebook manufacturers provide graphics drivers for their own notebooks.

It would have just said you odn't have a compatible part, but at least you didn't waste your time.

This is one of my bigger worries of getitng my first notebook. I don't like the slower driver updates.

I've also downloaded the driver provided by Dell recently, it decrease my rating on Aero to 4.6 while increasing the gaming rating to 5.2 . However I've experience some crashing during gaming on CnC3 and NFSP. Now i've got 169.04 from laptopvideo2go.com and my rating on Aero increasing back to 4.7 and gaming to 5.3. Nice ;)
