I have a "Sony" DW-D56A optical drive in my 9300. It has stopped reading DVD's, so I'm going to replace it. Reading various posts, the D56A seems to be a pretty crummy drive. Does anyone know what other drives with the same functionality will fit the 9300? Is the Q58A any more reliable?

I personally like the NEC 6500 drive. It is the one that I have, and so far I have not had any problems with it. It can be a smidge loud when burning discs, but that's about it from experiences. Are you still under warranty coverage?

Warranty coverage? Alas, no. I'd be sending it in to have the screen repaired while I was at it. It has a line of dead pixels that have appeared in the last week. (Looking at the Dell Forums and here, I'm not the only one.)
But thanks for the recommendation, Southern Girl. Did you get your NEC off the web or were you able to find a brick and mortar that had it? -
I got mine with my laptop . You should be able to find it online or at ebay. Also another suggestion is to go with Dell Spare Parts. They don't have an online store though.
As for your dead pixel problem, try screentekinc.com . We've done a review on them. I personally don't have any experience with them, but i know they do screen repairs and you can get screen replacement.
New DVD RW?
