Hi I'm back new laptop Dell 13-5378 i7
I have had my 13 5378 (5000) for a week, i7 7500u 13.3-inch FHD (1920x1080) IPS 8gb Ram Micron 1100 250gb SSD and backlit keyboard. Yes I like it and find it a strong system. I did not buy it for gaming but for Photoshop, surfing and presentations. The screen is not as bad as some say once it is fined tuned with the intel video driver program included on the system. Battery life with surfing is around 6 hours so far and the keyboard has little flex nice and rigid. Some say this is on the "Heavy side" of 13 inch laptops, I do not find it so, it is thin 0.8 inches and 3.4lbs when I weighed it. It is responsive and "snappy". Handles photoshop and my other tasks with ease. Touch screen accurate. I honestly feel this is a solid good system.
I was able to snag this on the outlet refurbished for $540 free shipping, as all my refurbished it came as brand new.
When I compared the same model and system on Dell.com it would have cost 900-950 and maybe as low 850 plus shipping with any coupon, so I feel I have a solid deal.
I rate this a solid 8/10
Several thoughts
- Screen is a little washed out but easily adjustable to a nice saturation using the Intel tuner program included with the system.
- The touchpad I like reversed scroll it took me a while to realize that the controls are part of windows 10 now, you can customize the touchpad easily with this.
- keyboard is awesome and the backlit keyboard come on and off as needed.
- large port on back on side for heat air exchange really nice feature when on some surfaces.

You have the 2 systems I have. the 13 5000, but I have the 2 in 1, and LOVE IT. I added a 2tb SSHD and 16 gb ram and its a great machine for not a lot of money....my wife has the 11 3000 2 in 1, I am going to install a 1tb SSHD in it. I would love to upgrade the ram but cannot since it's soldered to the board! BUT all in all, we love both our dell machines!

I find the 11 3000 good as well. It will be "snappier" when I get the SSHD installed. I upgraded my 5000 because I do a lot of photo and video editing and the ram helps a lot with that. I bought the lower spec model knowing that I could get the upgrades cheaper than buying the more expensive model. I find the screen fine, I did not need the backlit keyboard either. I would have liked to have 8gb of ram in the 11...but 4 is fine for what it's being used for like you said. It took me 30 min to install the extra stuff in mine. It made a very noticeable difference. I copied the HD to the SSHD in a 500 gb partition...and I have 1.5tb left now for storage of my photos and videos for travel.

I too wish my dell 11 3168 did not have 4gb ram soldered on but I made it better with the SSD and limiting it to mostly surfing email and word/PP Use. thats why I have the 13 5378 with i7 8gb ( can be upgraded) and SSD. Its very good for my needs.

Yep...this 5000 is much better than I thought it would be. I was looking at macbooks first. But, I really wanted touchscreen. Then I looked at the xps, and at the time, the 13" was not available in 2 in 1. THEN......I said to my wife, I don't need the "extras" like back lighting, etc. and bought this one. Loved it, and she wanted a small little computer and got her the 3000. We both were using surface 3s before this, and these are miles better.

DRFP, Where did you find the intel tuning? I would like to try that out. Even though my screen is great as is. I would like to try it out. Also, the screen on the i11 is a little bit blue compared to mine. I would like to see if I can fix that a bit.

I used right click graphics menu its built in with intel driver and then played with color, increased saturation a little and it looks better, these IPS screens are 6 bit not 8 bit thats where all the hate comes from

Got it...never knew it was there! awesome.

hows your dell still working? I just ordered a 24" dell touchscreen monitor to accompany my Inspiron on my desk. Will be here in a week. Can't wait to have that. Editing photos, videos and creating music will be awesome in my office now too.
