    Hi fellow 640m/ e1405 owners!

I have joined your family today when I received my Dell notebook. The notebook seems to be build pretty nicely but there is one potential issue that bothers me - power connector. It doesn't seem to be very sturdy nor very well connected to the back of the computer. When the plug is connected - it can be moved a bit and seems a bit loose. I think that it shouldn't look like this in a completely new computer... Do you see similar issues with your machines? If this is only a problem with my notebook, I will return it to exchange it to another.

I would appreciate any opinions about this issue.

    Greetings from Poland!

Yes, it is all the way in. Even though I can move it a little upwards and downwards when I grab the plug (in the place where the cord "ends" and the plug "starts"). I expect it to be a little loose (as the parts might not fit perfectly to each other) but didn't expect it to be that loose...

Does anyone see similar issues with their notebook? I can still have mine changed for a new one if this is an issue only with my notebook.

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

    /Tomasz

Mine is the same way. I've never had a problem with it. I've seen numerous reports of the power connector being loose with the E1405. I wouldn't worry about it.

Chances are it has to do with it being a independent section off of the motherboard, not soldered directly to it. This is to reduce stress from that point, so the solder joints don't break off under heavy use like older laptops could have happen over time. Lenovo for example does this, and the sockets do have a little bit of a wiggle to em.

Thanks for your comments. I will try to keep an eye on that connector for the first weeks to see whether it gets worse.

Anyone else having similar issues with the power connector?
