I have a new Dell 9300.. when I first started reading the boards, I wonder why there was a stick for install Windows XP on a clean install. Now I know why. Dell installs a LOT of junk on a computer, while I did not elect to do a full reinstall, I did the pain staking process of cleaning it up.

Maybe dell should have an option, "Install barebones OS, and dont even think about installing AOL/Earthlink/and god knows what else".

So far the speed is amazing compared to my old 8500 :D

    toodles

Yep, Dell ships a ton of crap on the Inspiron line. A fresh install will shave off probably half of the processes that run in the default.

They are probably getting paid by other companies to put that other stuff on there.

Yeah, I got a few programs with mine that I marked "none" on the purchase order online... like musicmatch and AOL.
