Well as the topic suggests this is yet another thread about a pretty disgruntled customer, at the hands of the almighty Dell!
Well her goes basically I ordered the below spec laptop on 7/8 (that's 7th of August):
Dell Vostro 1500
Windows Vista Business
V1500 Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2ghz fsb 800, 4mb Cache
Carry Case Nylon Bag
Intel Pro Wireless 3945 802.11 a/b/g Mini PCi card
Vostro 1500 15.4 WSXGA+ Truelife
Vostro 1500 black cover camera
2048 MB 667 MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x 1024)
Hard Drive 160gb Serial ATA (5400rpm)
256mb NVIDIA GeForce 8600m GT
Dell 926 Printer
Totalling around £800
As I it was a business order I was expecting delivery pretty soon as to be quite honest I am in urgent need of the laptop after speaking to an indian lady on the telephone, she clearly stated that I should receive my order within 7-10 days. I stated that on the website the estimated delivery is 31/8/07 but she still insisted 7-10 working days.
Anyway after giving these guys a call on 10/8 I was told not to expect my order within 7-10 working days as there is a delay with the LCD, anyway I made them aware of the situation that this is a busines order, still no luck. They stated they would prioritise my order, and give me compensation when I receive my order. They have already upgraded my printer as a gesture of good will to a Dell 946 so lets see what happens next..
P.S. This is a nightmare and think this will be my one and only time of ordering from Dell, as the delays truly are attrocious!

We have several people who have had 40+ day total delay time between order and receiving. Wednesday, a few unlucky souls will join the 50-day wait club.
But most of those early July orders are finally arriving (except for the 1720s!), and ones after that dont seem to be taking as long. I dont think anyone who orders today will wait more than 3 weeks total.
The Vostros arent having wait times as bad as the Inspirons or XPSs in any case. -
there was one guy that got his vostro done and shipped out in 4 days, so you shouldn't worry that much for a delay

I know! Me too! Well I called yesterday and they said that my laptop was in production however when I check on the website it says that my laptop is in pre-production, I mean what is up with that? Pffttt only time will tell I guess!

some vostros have been moved to "real" production today, you might be in luck!

Unfortunately not. I got forwarded to Customer Care in Ireleand, so I was actually able to understand the person I was speaking to. And unfortunately still in pre-production oh well, back to the drawing board..
