What do you guys think about this new Inspiron? I just started college and I am really looking forward to buying a laptop. I've been searching for a while and waiting, and now the new Inspiron 13 came out. I really like the MacBooks and the Dell XPS 1330, but they are just wayyyy to expensive for my budget. Do you guys think I should keep waiting and hopefully more stuff comes out or the prices will drop any time soon? Like I said, I don't want anything top of the line that can play every game out there, I have my own custom built pc for that. Just something for college that can perform the basic programs. Thanks for the help!

    Do you want or need?

If you just want i would wait about a month or 2 for the studio xps to be announced or released.

The thing is, there will ALWAYS be something new coming out in the next few months.

As said above, it comes down to need or want (it's hard to make a decision when it's a mix :p ).

It's mostly the want factor for right now. One question though... When the new xps series comes out, will I benefit anything out of it? Or will everything still be too pricey? Any advantages for me?

Ah yes, good point. Chances are it will be pricy since I'm assuming it will be thinner and more metal than plastic.

You really never do know about prices though. Laptops in general are going through a big transition.

Hey, why don't you go on Dell's site and play around with the configs???

That will give you an idea of what you may or not want! And, its fun to build your potentially future lappy! ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

Sorry if this is a dumb question but what do you mean about playing around with the configs?

At Dells site...you can build a I13 over and over, without having to purchase ;) :) You can even set up an account, and save the config's to your wish list...

I did this countless times when I first started looking at the Dells, and was torn between color, processor, Screen, etc..and which model ;) :)

watt, we dont have the build / customize option yet in Australia. mmm also i think for the pricing the studio xps wont be too expensive as the price order from cheapest to dearest is
inspiron - studio - studio xps - xps

I really don't think this is going to be the case. The Studio XPS is just going to take the position of the current XPS line and they really don't seem to have cut any corners on design and features if the leaked pics are to be believed. At launch, the Studio XPS will most likely be quite a bit more expensive than the current XPS line, no doubt to me.

In the situation of the topic starter, I think you should pick the 'middle road' by waiting until the Inspiron 13 gets the Montevina upgrade (I'd say that should happen faster than the Studio XPS's coming out, perhaps September?). That way, you get hardware that's more up to date than currently and also get advantages of the Montevina platform like a lighter and smaller chip set, more power efficient and less heat.

Yes, in regards to the build/customize option the only color choice available right now is *Pacific Blue*..., and only 2 USB ports!!!!

I'm sure the build/customize opton will be coming to Australia soon enough!

Hopefully they'll include more color choices later. I don't care much for blue.

Yea the Blue color IMO doesn't make it stand out at all. When I saw it in best buy I didn't even realize what it was.
