I'm just so gosh darn excited, I just had to tell all you folks. I just ordered my new laptop tonight, a Dell Inspiron 1721. I went with the basic Jet Black, but that's going to be modified, so here's the goods:

    AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core processor TK-53 (512KB/1.7GHz)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition
    Anti-glare, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
    ATI RADEON® Xpress1270 HyperMemory™
    160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
    2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
DVD writer / DVD player (Combo Drive)
    Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini-Card
85Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell)

I can't wait 'till this bad motherf*cker gets here! w00t!

Mr. Anderson... welcome back. Congrats on the order, and welcome to the Dell family. I'd be careful with a thread title like that though, people are gonna think it just shipped and we'll all p*ss in our pants (like me)! ;)

Ha ha ha, yeah. Sorry aboot that. It's not on it's way yet!

I gotta tell you tho, I am going to be sad to see my current desktop rig go. I built it myself, and it's NEVER given me even a hiccup.

In that suppose to be a sequal to the Dell 1520?

I was going to be ordering a 1520, but I might wait till that comes out.

I have the exact same one ,jet black 1721.I love it.
The screen is awesome, and even though the video card is limited I have had no problems playing any games ,even the most recent ones. The only thing I dont like is the size and quirkyness of the mouse pad.Hard to adjust settings, and it never seems quite right, and its pretty small considering the overall size of this BEAST.There is plenty of extra room that they could have expanded it.

Did you honestly think it would be in testing? I know that they get the blacks out fast, but not that fast!

No, I didn't "honestly" think that it would be ready, this is the first time I've ever ordered a computer online. I have no idea how long it will take. But I knew it wouldn't be ready in 2 days.

Whenever you are in the process of configuring your laptop, they have a box that pops up whenever you click on the estimated shipping date. In that box, they tell you the delays and how they came up with the ESD. When I ordered my 1520 yesterday, it said that production time would be 9 days w/o delays. I don't know what it would be for the 1721, but I would guess it is around 9 days as well.
