I'd appreciate input as to whether I'd be jumping the gun in buying the new Inspiron 1720 that just came out last week. Knowing that Dell desktops are now being sold at Walmart super discounted, will they do the same with the notebooks and if so, will I have a coronary when I see how much lower the price is compared to what is it now online?

Anyone aware of any price protection offered by Dell so if you purchase one of their new laptops, they honor a lower price say up to 4 weeks later should they run a sale or something?

Just HATE finding out I paid too much!

    Thanks in advance :)

You need to call when you order, and ask about it...most reps do...

What kind of price protection did the rep offer you when you asked?

As long as the item hasn't been shipped, he'd honor it.

Last time I ordered, the rep gave me a free USB HDD a month and a half after I ordered it when the price went down for my lappy.

    It all depends.

So if the price goes down within 21 days then I can get call the csr for the difference? I just placed an order and the ESD is Oct 1 :(

I want to know if I would get some kinda of discount if the price of the laptop lowers before that.

Well you definitely get the same price if you need to wait that long...because then you'd just be able to cancel and reorder and they wouldn't want you to do that...
