The first one is about a toshiba, so unrelated to Dell.

On CNET, they might just have it up there early. It's hard to think that Dell will release an XPS in May since I don't think they have even confirmed that they are updating the XPS. Then again, dell is pretty secretive about future releases.

The first article hints that Dell will release 7900-based XPS in April, so it's not totally unrelated.

"Toshiba is the first company to unveil nVidia's latest GeForce Go 7900 GS 3D graphics chip. This privilege used to be reserved solely for Dell, who, by the way, is also set to reveal an Nvidia-powered XPS notebook sometime in April. The 7900 GS is not as powerful as Nvidia's desktop GeForce 7900 GTX chipset, but if the current GeForce Go 7800 GTX graphics card is any indication, the 7900 GS should bring more horsepower plus some excitement to laptop gaming."

saw this notebook at CES behind closed doors. as cool as the graphics card is, the touchpad and the color was probably the coolest part...

So the mystery of why Toshiba cheaped out on the P100 (currently with pathetically low-end 7300Go graphics) is finally revealed. Here's hoping they'd release the same thing here in Canada. ;)

About the XPS new XPS, I'm assuming it'll be coming with 7900GTX graphics? Doesn't make sense to use the 7900GS right?

    edit: Abaxter,

Do you know how much the new XPS is going to cost? Same price or more expensive than the XPS-M170?

heh well last term, so out the door he goes :D ...

But yeah, even if I was off target on the date, they're definitely coming out sometime in april, a few other sources have speculated that on the web. If a M170 option is something you're considering, I'd wait till then to see how things pan out. As far as the price goes though, that's another story .. probably similar to previous M170 intro prices..

I was all gloating when I got my 1705 2.0 and 7800... but now a M170 with duo and 7900 GTX.... :jealous:

The new XPS is going to cost a fortune from what I've heard - starting at around $3000. For that much, you can pretty much spec out the E1705 and then some, not to metion the coupons.

Sounds like one slayer of a notebook. That's going to cost a heck of alot even with epp.

Lol. My A.D.D. has me trying to imagine what Mr. Baxter is talking about with 'cool touchpad.' The thing must glow from beneath.
