Currently I have a dell e1505 with a t2300(1.66ghz), 1GB ram, and an Ati X1400. Is there a reason to get a new laptop such as a m1530 or putting in to 2GB of ram(Using windows xp) into my current laptop would be sufficient for the current future. I know that new intel processor's came out, but is a t2300 that outdated?

I would stick 2gb ram in there and keep it. The 1505 is a good laptop, and is not that old.

I would get 2GB ram, you will see a significant increase in performance. I just got a XPS 1530 with 1GB ram but I got 4GB ram for $60 and put it in even though it was running fine with 1GB, just so I know even in a few years this will still be running fast.

I heard some people being able to put 4Gb in a e1505, is it worth it or possible for that fact?

Does anybody favor any brands of ram. On newegg the two most appealing seem to be corsair and crucial. They are about $40 for (2x1GB PC 5300) ram. Also, is it worth to pay about $30 more for patriot CAS 4 instead of buying CAS 5

the corsair or crucial should be fine. no need to pay much more than that. It'll be fine. try to get a set, not two separate sticks.

Its a set for $40 on newegg. On bestbuy, circuit city, and staples the prices for the same ram is about $150. I thought maybe because it has a lower CAS that it is much better, but they price is 4X more.
