Most likely something is wrong with the motherboard thats causing all the BSODs as it really shouldnt be happening. Is this a new Inspiron? If so, you should definitely get it replaced.

    Did you try reformatting first?

this way you start with a clean slate. No dell crapware.

Even with dell whateverwaresthattakeupspace, it shouldnt be giving you BSODs of this frequency, if any at all.

Its NBR, what did you expect? XD

Anyways, yeah, I'd definitely request a replacement. Just make sure you specify you want a brand new unit so they most likely won't ship you a refurb.

Call Dell's Customer Care and arrange for a replacement. Be wary, they might as they did with me transfer me to tech support, then XPS tech support, then back to customer care, but just tell the customer care that you want the replacement and you know they are the ones to do it if they are about to transfer you elsewhere.

The replacement process is quite simple and you get to hang onto your laptop until the new one arrives in which you have 5 days to return it to them or pay the cost of the new one. In the meantime, you can experiment some and reformat your current one, reinstalling the os and everything just to get a feel for it and know what your doing if you choose to reformat when the new one arrives.

For me, it was very useful as I got to compare RAM speeds, formatting tests, SP1 tests, etc so that I knew what was good and what was not for the one I actually wanted to keep and it also gave me great insight on how to repartition, what it is, how it works, as well as the types of cleaning methods I could use without damaging my M1530.

Consider getting a replacement as an opportunity and not a burden of waiting for the new one. It really doesn't take long for them to get it to you anyways. It took 2 weeks to make my initial one, but 4 days to make my replacement and it was brand new having no problems at all.

If your curious to know how to tell if you receive a replacement or not, you will know by seeing if there is a colored sticker somewhere on the box when you receive it. If there is no circular sticker, that means you got a brand new unit.

    Hope that helps!

Contact Dell and arrange for a replacement to be cross shipped immediately. The laptop should work out of the box and BSODs most likely indicate faulty hardware in case like this because Dell use images to install the OS. If the image was faulty then all laptops build using that image would have the problem...

Once that's done you can muck around re-installing the OS and what not if you feel like wasting time...

So it was not a motherboard problem right??? BSODS are caused most of the times by the software, and if its a hardware problem the cause is the memory ram, i dont see why a motherboard should give you a BSOD. See you got it working without a replacement, without calling customer care and waiting on the phone and getting frustrated, without waiting for the new computer to arrive all that, with a little troubleshooting you got it working, great!!

There is something else to note also. If you reboot your Laptop, and hold down the function (FN) key, you should see in the dell post that it is booting into diagnostic mode. This will test everything in your system, it will take a while, but if you have a hardware fault it should show up. That way when you call tech support you will know exactly what is up.

That is interesting. I only knew about the F12 key going into boot options and Bios Settings. The diagnostic mode does require the hidden partition in order to use right?
