Does anyone know how much battery life a well equiped, 2.0 ghz, 256 nvidia 8600gt, etc., inspiron 1520 will get? On their site it says 2-5 hours, that seems a little broad to me...

Other reviews of notebooks with similar hardware are showing big ranges of battery life, depending on usage. Do something which heavily loads the CPU and GPU and you will struggle to get to 2 hours, but ease back and let the power management take over and you can get a much longer time.

I haven't studied the new Dell specs, but another variable in the equation could be the battery capacity.

There a 2 different batteries available, so depending on which one you use, your battery life could change dramatically. I would say the 6-cell is good for ~90-100 minutes and the 9-cell for ~120 minutes.

    I believe the 1520 w/ 8600GT comes with a 9-Cell standard

9-cell on a 15.4" your looking at 3 hours and a bit on average.

Probably 2 while watching a movie and 5 while just leaving it on at low brightness. Thats why range was so broad.
