    Okay, First post,
My take on the Dell 1420 and the bad reviews.
I like so many others was excited when I saw the new Dell 1420's as I was in the market for a new laptop, After reading the reviews on this laptop, and reading the reviews of several other laptops I was looking at, I decided on Dell.
I placed my order on the 13 th of July, and was given a shipping date of Aug 2 to ship. During the first 2 day's I read all the post regarding the Dell 1420's both positive and negative, and quite honestly thought about cancelling my order because of what I read on this forum. (Reviews for this laptop have been very positive) So the day I was going to cancel this order I checked online to see it had been shipped, this was on Monday 2 days after I ordered it. Okay I could not wait for it to arrive on Wednesday, When the package arrived I opened up the laptop and it was perfect, Construction of this laptop was exceptional, I powered it on and everything worked just as it should. in short this Laptop worked just as described, and reviewed, no issues whatso ever.

My advice to everyone to take what is said here learn from it but in the end try it for yourself. I am glad I did.

LOL, No I do not work for Dell, and Quite honestly it took alot for me to buy a Dell after my inspirion 1150 system board smoking after 18 months. (no warrenty) and Dell's total lack of concern or help,

    As for resolution
I have the antiglare 1280x800 screen,
I will pull the hardware id tonight and update it.

No all of our Dell D620's are anti Glare. as for others that has seen my 1420, My son has a glossy Acer, and my wife has a glossy compaq, so I have looked at these as well and on my son's Acer I do see a bit of graininess on his on white backgrounds but otherwise it's a really nice screen.

I bought this one because of our support, and I have really been inpressed with the D620's construction and reliability.

Oh man, it's kind of disappointing,

I want a truelife screen because of it's richer and more saturated colors, but there is a price to pay, graininess :(

Not really, My wifes compaq looks great, and as for my son's well to me the graininess is not an issue, It still looks great for colors and movies, and for the most part you'll never notice it. I just noticed it while doing a install, and that particular screenshot was a little off, His Harry Potter Wallpaper looks incredible. Anti Glare was my choice on my laptop because I do not like seeing myself in the mirro while in different situations.

Figures then, all antiglare screens do not have grainyness on the inspiron's however the glossy screens do. Thats a big shame, such good price for specs, and then Dell get some cheap manufactures to construct and apply the coating for the "more demand" screens.

With that, and not including any DVI/HDMI ports and having a dodgy headphone jacket, the inspirons really are a let down. Time to look elsewhere for myself.
