I think it might be support for the new Core 2 duo processors

That's good for E1505 owners - Dell is going to contiune support your model for Merom (drop-in upgrades will be very likely do-able).

I doubt it - if they had a choice between people upgrading their parts and buying a new notebook, they'd most definately choose the later. This is a nice perk for E1505 owners though - hopefully they'll do the same for the E1705 and E1405.

Thermal Control? Does this mean there is no heat problems like the A04 to A07 BIOS upgrades?

Is this a motherboard BIOS? Does it mean the new BIOS will enable the E1505 motherboard to support Core 2 duo processors?

Is it recommended to update my computer to this latest BIOS? Anyone?

It is both motherobard and GPU BIOS in case you have 7300 Go. Obviously it supprots Core 2 Duo because that is then only new CPU that came out (and that can ran Windows x64 on E1505/6400)

I wonder what the thermal control update means, also the splash screen at the first power on, has a new intel logo

There's a A12 BIOS for 6400. I would like to know if it's advisable to upgrade to this new one? Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, but on checking the latest is A14 and the upgrade is recommended by Dell. I just upgraded from A06 and all went smooth. Guess I missed a few upgrades!

yeah A14 is the latest bios for inspiron 6400, it seems to be pretty much the same as the previous a12 bios with no major changes. They didn't even fix the buzzing / hissing noise or the speedstep problem with the new a14 bios yet
