Tomorrow is black friday, so I'm looking at buying an ATI X700 graphics card at best buy. If I wanted to play a lot of the new games on the market would this be a good card to buy? Would this run Battlefield 2, F.E.A.R., Halo 2, etc.? My current system has 512 mb of ram, would I need to update this as well? How would this new card run if I bought an extra gig of ram? Are there any other factors that are important for gaming that I need to look at?

Oops. I thought PCI Express was for notebooks.

I don't even know enough to be dangerous, LOL.

I think Dell wants to push gamers toward the i9300 with the Go6800. Also, they may run into heat problems with the X700 in the i6000.

I've got this mental image of someone trying to fit a desktop graphics card in their notebook and getting very confused!
Good job you posted before buying! Unfortunately notebook graphics cards aren't generic.

Where would you put the duct tape? A desktop graphics card is half the size of a notebook.

You could also use a stapler/nailgun if you want a better connection. The smaller impedance will improve its speed too.

How could a Dell 6000D not be able to handle an X700 when the similarly sized HP DV4000 can?

I wish they would make a slot like the PC card slot in notebooks where instead you could just pop in a video card like you can with a memory stick or PC card modem. What do you guys think of that idea? Probably not feasible right now but it beats opening up the notebook and all that hassle.

Dell is Dell, there build is different than HP. How come a HD DV8000 has a Key Pad built in and the 9300 doesnt? Every computer company does things there way. Us consumers, have to fix it, or live with it.

And yes, that would be a cool idea if you could do that. Nothing soon though
