Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, so I apologize if I'm not doing this right or if this has been addressed.
I recieved a new Studio 1535 for Christmas. It was purchased on Thanksgiving Day so its past the 21 days. Everything was working great, but all of a sudden, randomly the eject button started lighting up and trying to eject a cd. This did it for a little while, my sister has a MAC and says her's does the same thing. It was my first time with a slot loading cd drive..so I took her word for it. Then it kept happening. Next, the volume button would light up..raise the volume up all the way on the screen and stay there. I would manually try to lower it, and it wouldn't let me. Finally after about a minute, it would let me lower it. This happens randomly which is why I'm haiving a hard time with Tech Support. I have contacted Dell support 4 times now, 3 online where they tapped in to my computer, once on the phone. THe first 2 times online they fixed a BIOS that wasn't set right and the second time they did something else remotely I'm not sure what. The 4th time was for something unrelated, although it was a problem that came from the first time they tapped in. Anyway, they sent out a piece for me to replace, the Hinge Cover. They assured me last night that this would solve the problem, however this morning, I turned the computer on, and about 20 minutes later, the eject button lit up, stayed lit for about 10 second, it made the noise like it was ejecting a cd, then stopped.
Does anyone have any insight, any suggestions? Does this happen to anyones or is it just me? Cause they now have tried to fix this 3 times, and each time they told me it would fix it and it hasn't. This is my first time with a Dell and I'm beyond frustrated.
Anything anyone could provide woud be great.
Thank you & have a good day!
Donna

Hi,
Try to eliminate the options like disconnecting from the internet and letting the computer hang for some time, to see if it's still acting weird.
I would also try to enter the BIOS (normally f2 key in boot menu), see if the cd opens when windows is down.
Next step would be reinstall windows (or recovery), but this option should be your last solution.
good luck ;] -
Iomega..
I might sound stupid asking this...but what do you mean by eliminating the options disconnecting to the internet ..etc.
I'm sorry If I sound stupid...the Dell tech also suggested a Recovery..but I'm kinda concerned in doing that. They said that would solve the problem, but they also said that the other 3 options they did would solve the problem.
Thanks for responding. I appreciate it.

This is a very common problem on the Studio 1535. See this thread for a lot more information.

Its due to the crappy ribbon cable connecting the CCC to system board. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
