Awesome! My M1530 arrived today. I ordered on 3 Jan and here it is. I left work early to pick it up and try it out. I was surprised at the size of the box but new the XPS notebooks are pretty thin. I pulled the packing slip off the box and cut the security tape. The first thing I saw inside was a small accessory catalog. I took a quick look and threw it to the side. Next there was a quick setup poster. It said to plug in the AC adapter and a network connection. I threw it to the side also. I made it to the first inner box. I opened it to find software CDs, AC adapter, and a notebook looking thing with a couple of manuals in it. Removing it I found the second inner box. I had a hole punched in it so you can easily pull the box out from the larger one. I opened the end flap and my M1530 was inside a form fitting case, which was inside a plastic bag. The ends were encased in foam allowing the notebook to be suspended inside with plenty of space for protection. The case that came with the notebook is a nice black unit with XPS embossed on the front. It even has a hidden magnetic catch to keep it closed. I pulled the M1530 out of the case and there was a beautiful piece of work. The dull black is nice and will be easy to keep clean. I quickly scanned the ports on the sides and opened up the top. I removed the protective sheet that was resting on the keyboard. The brushed metal surface is another nice touch. Well enough delay, time to power up the beast. The power button sits directly in the center of the base near the LCD. I pressed it and it glowed blue as the M1530 came to life. To my dismay, thats when I noticed the spider web of cracks in the LCD. Starting from the bottom bezel and spanning all the way to just under the webcam. About the first 1/5 of the screen was viewable on the left side of the LCD. The rest was a mass of colored lines and blackness. I now wait eight days for a replacement to be sent to me. The first notebook I ever bought myself was DOA...

What a tragic ending to an otherwise beautiful story

I had no problems with my first laptop (recieved on the 28th of December 07).
Even though it seemed like the delivery man didnt handle the package very well, he dropped it on the floor... and the box seemed a little crushed on the corner. Had to make him stay until i opened it to make sure he didnt damage the thing before I signed for it.
