Just wondering how Australian orders have been progressing for those on the waiting list? I'm waiting for the spring green colour, and though when I ordered there was supposedly 'no delay' according to the site, my receipt indicates it will be 10 working days, and the guy on the support desk said two weeks... are the issues in waiting times as prominent in Aus as they seem to be everywhere else?

*edited as I moved the linux question to the appropriate place in the boards, but feel free to answer here as it doesn't seem to have updated the thread name as i'd hoped it would!

I did install Gentoo Linux on my 1420 when I had it. Everything works fine: Intel AGN wireless, touchpad, battery indicator, sensors, 1440x900 resolution, opengl 3D, suspend-to-ram. EVERYTHING! But its not as easy as clicking on a driver .exe file to install. So, prepare yourself mentally for it. Moreover, Ubuntu might be completely different experience compared to Gentoo. Feel free to ask questions. If I know I will reply.

I've never heard of Gentoo before. I'm expecting there'll be some hiccups (that's where my UNIX admin boyfriend comes in! lol) but I'm hopeful that I can get it to run. Ubuntu is a great operating system and I would really like to have it on my laptop.
What happened to your 1420? Problems?
And sorry, I rearranged threads as I realised I'd posted in the wrong place (delivery) by accident, but did have a delivery question as well, lol.

It was too heavy and I decided if its that heavy I have to live with, I might as well get some more desktop space and went for 1520.
