I spotted this laptop while at BestBuy today. It seems to be the the 1545 model. Nothing special in my opinion. I was in a hurry so did not pay too much attention to all the ports but i could not see any hdmi port. One thing that surprised me was the lack of any media buttons.

I did manage to take some quick pics with the cell phone but unfortunately the quality is not that great. The glossy black is all plastic and a finger print magnet. The notebook also is quite heavy at 6.5lbs. It is a 15.6" though for what its worth.

This seems to be the 1545 model, a quick search reveals the following links with higher quality photos

Really poor offering from Dell...1545 is a dog but not nearly as bad as the Mini 12!

kind of surprised its heavier and looks bulkier than the 1525.

1525 is a nice form factor, if only they updated it to hp DV5T specs it would be sweeeet

I love how they are trying to spin or sell people on the notion of these new 15.6" or 16.4" inch displays because they are 16:9 HD, that they some how are better or different to the 17 inch or 15.4 inch Displays.

But at the same time bundle it with DDR 2 667 mhz RAM and an older model chipset and old Core 2 Duo Santa Rosa.

I bet that the 19 year old trying to sell you the laptop at Best Buy would try and draw your attention to the 15.6 inch HD display, thats all he would try and hype.

i hate those displays. they're cheaper to produce, so i guess we'll be seeing them a lot now.....

they're just too narrow to do any proper work. its perfect if you're just gonna use it for media though.

I like the black colour, and the specs aren't horrible, but overall nothing too exciting. 16:9 = cheaper and no more useful, and they didn't even fit a NumPad in the extra space! I've yet to see a good reason to not go 16:10. And no media buttons! I <3 my media buttons! I had no idea how handy they'd be when I got my laptop, but it's much better than going to the System Tray to adjust volume all the time. I'm surprised they scrapped them, really.

The keyboard looks identical to the Vostro 1500 keyboard, which is the same as the Inspiron 1520 keyboard. That's actually a positive, as the 1520 has a really nice keyboard.

Not bad cell phone pictures at all really, sammy. Much better than mine could take. Though I think I am in the lowest quartile by now.

I got one of these 1525 and it does okay for what I bought it to do. Main use is wife to talk to our son in Korea via Yahoo Messenger with Webcam, checking email. Other than that the 1525 never gets used to speak of.

    Hi.

Did you see the lid on the Inspiron 1545? Is it glossy or matte? I purchased one yesterday from the Dell website, right now, its like $200 cheaper on Dell.com than BestBuy.

I seen it in a futureshop the other day and I must say the keyboard was OUTSTANDING. It felt so strong. Furthermore, it was displayed beside a 15" studio so I got to see and feel each build quality. The studio seemed so flimsy and plastic-ish where the Inspiron felt Lenovo-like. As if I could probably fight a polar bear with it and probably win.

Build quality aside however, the specs are pretty wimpy but what can you expect for six hundred bucks? :p

That's the same keyboard as in the vostros. The keyboards in the vostros are 100x better than the silver ones.
