Not sure if this was old news or not, far as I know it was just announced during CES, but can now buy a machine with the new 8730M graphics. Which I believe is based on the GCN from the last gen, and not GCN 2.

btw. This is in NZD (New Zealand Dollars), considering our dollar here is pretty strong against the USD we still getting a bum deal. I cannot find the same model yet on the USA site.

I been thinking, if the 8730M is the successor to the 7730M then why does it look on paper slower.
As in, less shaders and higher clock for the 8730M. Pretty sure the lower clocked 7730M should beat out the 8730M.

For anyone in the U.S., the new Inspirons will not be made available with the 1080p screens even though the option is there. This was confirmed by Lionel Menchaca of Dell. This may also apply to other countries as it is up to each to decide. More stupid politics by Dell, but what else is new? That's why they're laying off employees, losing marketshare, dropping revenue, etc.

Erf...No backlit keyboard. A shame, those slim new inspirons seem pretty cool.

In france, the 8730M only comes on the new inspiron 17R, only 7670M for the new 15R.

Funny thing is that the new inspiron 17R is the first 17 inch notebook i've seen that comes with a 17W TDP cpu (core i5 3317U). Would love to see the power consumption onf this one.
