    New Inspiron 15z not giving video or audio with HDMI out

    Just got the Inspiron 15z (Windows 8 with Intel HD 4000), and I tried to hook it up to the TV via HDMI. Long story short, nothing is happening as far as an output is concerned. I can successfully make the HDMI on my older inspiron 15R function as it should (video and audio mirrored on my TV perfectly).

    Not sure what is going on with the new 15z, but I've tried the following:
    1) Plug in HDMI and press CTRL+P
    2) Download and install the latest Intel HD 4000 drivers
    3) Call Dell Customer Support (who told me I needed additional software, but the IT guy he would connect me to must charge for their services... ?!)

    Not sure what I'm doing wrong, as I feel like HDMI output isn't brand new technology that's extremely complicated to use.

    Someone please point me in the right direction. I love this laptop, and I don't want to get rid of it over this option :(

    I think you got to the wrong dell support people. I got transferred to the one they charge for once too. Keep calling until you get to the actual dell tech support. If you have the new 15z you must be under warranty and they have to help you for free.
