    Just ordered one, $891 shipped:

    Inspiron 6000D, Intel Pentium M Processor 730 (1.60GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
    15.4 inch WSXGA+ LCD Panel
    256MB, DDR2,400MHz 1 Dimm
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X300 Video Card
    60GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
    24X Combo DVD/CD-RW
    Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 (802.11b/g) Internal Wireless
    Int Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth

As you can see I ordered w 256 megs only because I want at least a gig - for starter, another gig later - and I'm sure it's cheaper somewhere online - what's the cheapest 1GB DDR2-400 stick today and where? Thanks!

I would have to say that tigerdirect, newegg, or zipzoomfly would have the cheapest ram on the market. They usually have price wars, so you can usually catch ram at a good price.

It's easy. Turn the laptop over and you'll see a Windows XP sticker. Unscrew that plate thing and the RAM is under there. Just take out the old RAM and put in the new RAM.

I did the same thing. I just order a Kingston 1GB 533MHz DDR2 PC2-4200 SODIMM from www.ec.kingston.com for $154 with free shipping. I was just wondering if I got a good deal for for my memory.

Bought Transcend from NewEgg for about $175 for 1Gb. Works great next to the existing 256Mb stick.

Disbol, does KVR533D2S4/1G work with 6000? This is the one model you purchased from Kingston.
