My 6400 is brand new. I got it yesterday and watched a movie on it right away. I was watching Fantastic 4 (105 minutes) with the AC adapter on. When I finished, I turned over my laptop and saw that the authentication sticker had partially burnt off because it was so hot. My laptop was on my wooden desk and I even moved my laptop around every 15 minutes into new spots that were cool because the area in contact with my laptop was really hot. Is something like this normal?
EDIT - the sticker that was burnt is located at the top-middle part of the bottom on the laptop.

i think you can even sue Dell with this burning issue... no i do not think its normal to buRn the sticker because of its heat... i had issue w/ heat and i got my laptop replaced... try to talk to dell cc over INTERNET!!! not over the phone..

Edit: This is my burnt on my laptop. -
Yah just turned my 1505 over and noticed the same type of burn...strange

Your sticker isn't burned. That is what Microsoft has done to the labels so they can't be removed easily and stolen. I had the same thought when I got my 1505 and posted on the Dell forums. The look of the sticker is normal.

if your worried about heat, download i8kfangui, and adjust your fan to kick in before the unit heats up, it can make a huge difference in overall heat levels, my m1210 idles around 55c , and got up in the 80's at load stock settings, with my adjustements I idle around 35 c, and at load have only cracked 60 once, its usally in the lower 50's, with the 6400 you should get even lower temps due to the increased air flow you get from a larger better ventilated chassis
I would reccomend you set your fan(you only have 1) to run at low all the time, and kick in to high at 45 to 55, then go back to low at 40 or 45, that will keep your laptop as cool as possible, a cooling pad or some heat resistant hard solid surface to sit the laptop down on helps a lot too, stone isnt very advisable as it stores up and radiates heat over time, though it would take a very long time with very little air flow in the room
you can also monitor the temps of all your core components with i8k -

Yea, my Inspiron 6000 has the same mark on it. Interesting observation.
