Core Duo, 2GB, 120GB, Bluetooth, extended battery, WXGA+/glossy, Vista Home Premium, etc. etc. for $963 shipped. I've installed my Office XP Pro and everything else from my XP machine that works with Vista (90%+), and am very pleased. I'm getting almost 8 hours on the battery, though not with the brightest screen.
This is the best deal for the money, I think. Imagine - such computing power and functionality for under $1,000 - total.
This weekend the laptop goes to a Linux user group meeting, where one of the gurus will install Linux plus a common partition for data files.
By the way, I use Mozy for automatic backups, free up to 2GB - and it works well with this setup.
Also - I had a leather 3-ring binder with nice handles. Removed the hardware, snipped the excess fittings, and made a very nice lightweight carrier for this notebook, which measures 10" x 13" including the battery.
Overall, an 8. Considering cost, a solid 10.

Good that you like it, however a core2duo would have been better.
Anyways, I think you have made a small mistake in your title, the Inspiron 640m (sold outside US) is sold as Inspiron E1405 (not Latitude E1405) in US. -
Thanks -
Core2Duo wasn't an option on this group buy - and the small difference is unimportant on a pure business (no video, gaming, etc.) machine.
You're right about the name: inside it says INSPIRON 640M. The documents say INSPIRON E1405.
