Sorry, the Latitude 15 3000 doesn't.
My fault for going off topic.

While the top range 7000s do have Full HD, I don't think it's the same quality panel as the FHD screens on the XPS line. Could be wrong. Eagerly awaiting the reviews to come!

Anyone notice that is seems being able to configure your PC with the hardware YOU want seems to be going the way of the dinosaur with Dell? Now, it seems everything is prepackaged configurations, with very little hardware customization.
So, in order to get the 750m graphics, you need to buy the $1299 model? Also, too bad Dell used the 7260-N instead of the 7260-AC. With the numerous AC-enabled routers out now, it'd have been nice to throw that in instead of yet another "n" card.
It looks thinner, but 1.2 (7720) vs 1.1 inches height isn't much difference.
Can't wait for them to show up in the Outlet!booboo12 likes this. -
Does anyone know if Dell decided to be generous enough to give us Gigabit Ethernet this time? The specs say "RJ45 Ethernet". RJ45 is a connector, not a type of Ethernet. Maybe they specify RJ45 so as to differentiate from the model with Fiber Ethernet?
Edit: Seems, according to the Canadian site SPECS page, that it does have 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Yay! -
This morning on the Canadian site I came across the Inspiron 15 5537. It's identical to the Latitude 15 3000, except it has HDMI and an i7-4500U for $1000. The problem is that it has a 1366x768 touch screen with no option to change. I would buy it right now if I could get the same 1080p anti-glare screen as the Latitude.
Also, I was able to find an Inspiron 15 7000 with a GT750m for $750 on the Canadian site, but again I can't change the screen. Their site is so bad. I can't find it through the normal Inspiron list, but it's still in my cart and it still shows the NVidia GPU. -
" Photos, videos, movies and other images pop on a 1366 x 1378 display in 720p."
Funny, because the LCD doesn't look square to me! -
-
I reviewed the service manuals for both the 7537 & 7737 and the internal layouts are nothing special.
Neither had the option of adding mSATA. The battery is internal and is positioned at the front of the laptop. It's takes up a lot of space, but probably because it is wide and thin.
There is only a single cooling fan with a single heatpipe going from the CPU to GPU and then the heatsink.
The only component/option you gain with the 7737 is a bigger screen and an optical drive.

After seeing the images, I am regretting my HP Envy 15 TouchSmart. This thing looks so beautiful, like a true windows version of Mac Book Pro. Tell me what is concept of front facing battery? Does it spoil the look?

This thing sux, will come with a Core I7, Quad Core? 4500U is a dual core processor

So when are the 1080 screens and the dedicated graphics going to be available in America? ( 15 Inch)
-
The press releases claimed that we'd be getting a discrete graphics (750m) Acer R7, but we didn't. In order to try and keep the Chronos Series 7/Ativ Book 8 close to price point, the US version sacrificed the 8870m for the 8770m, the Acer V7-492pg (or whatever its name is) has a 750m basically everywhere but the US, where it instead has just a measly 720m.
Dell's Inspiron line is their budget IP, and they're already charging ~$900 for a non-1080p, non-discrete graphics 15" model. I'd love to be optimistic, but the trends aren't hopeful. -

This highlights my entire issue with their new website design. It's terrible and you can't see all your options on one screen like before. In fact, try to navigate to the config from the homepage and the only 2 Inspiron 15 7000 configs one can view are the 699 and 899 SKU's (because lets face it...these aren't truly BTO like in the past...) with Intel graphics. -
It looks like that 1080p/750m config isn't intended to be easily found on the website yet. Note the ship date of 11/19/2013. Since the 750m equipped motherboards probably have a long lead time they are keeping this configuration off the main list of configurations until closer to the ship date. The price also seems higher than it should be. The Inspiron 17 7000 with a similar configuration is only $1299.

What about the I7 4700MQ its a haswell check it out Toshiba has it in they laptops. -

So no reviews on them yet?

Why nobody is speaking about the 14" version (inspiron 14 7000) ??? This cute little thing looks just awesome, it's a macbook air clone. And it comes with full hd 1080p screen in some places. Sadly in France, it just comes with crappy 768p at the moment. I'm looking for it cause 14" is my favourite screen size and this lap looks perfect on paper.

How difficult would it be to replace the 5400 RPM HDD with a SSD for the Inspiron 14 7000?

hope some reviews comeing soon -
I think by looking at pictures that you cannot actually open the laptop on your own -
You can also see shots of the internal layout/complete breakdown here.
WdaF, I just looked at the manual and it shows two cooling fans and an mSATA slot. Why didn't the 15" and 17" models come with mSATA? -
Thanks for the inspiron 14 manual service it gives a good view of the inside. Seems pretty easy to open despite its unibody look like.
Yes there is no gpu but it looks like a good lap for those who just seek a good battery life. A small gpu like 730M GT or 8750M would make it perfect.
Just notice that it has two fans cooling. But those are very small fans. -
can i upgrade the memory myself and how much is the max 16 gig?

Adobe Acrobat was over 120 MB!!! Really Adobe, just to view PDFs?
Anyway, according to the service manual, the memory is part of the system board and cannot be removed/changed.
Also, you have to remove the system board to change the mSATA. Yikes. -
that sucks i was going to upgrade it to max like 16 gig thats a deal breaker for me ugh
the more expensive one has 8 gig and thats it. -
Here is a link to the manual for the 17 inch.

yep memory seems to be only integrated and maxed at 8GB on the 14". I don' like that new trend, if the memory fails, the whole mainboard is dead ????. Only wifi card and standard sata disk are accessible directly after removing the enclosure. For accessing msata and heatsink, the whole mainboard has to be removed...Forget easy repasting...That sucks. I really don't like laptop that don't allow easy maintenance, which is almost always the case for thin and light sadly. Better order the lap without useless 32GB msata ssd, just a HDD then put a big regular ssd.

Yikes. I actually ordered the 14" model on Monday. It won't be shipped out until after the production process, though. I feel like it's a great bargain compared the other ultrabooks with similar specifications. It might not be the lightest ultrabook, since it weighs over 4 pounds, but still.
I wanted a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, but Lenovo has been so flaky with their release dates. (I originally waited for the u430 Touch with a 1080P screen. It was supposed to come out in late August - mid September.) The Yoga 2 Pro has the 1800x3200 display, which is fantastic, but the Chromebook Pixel-inspired design of the Inspiron 7000 series won me over.
Yesterday, Dell announced their new XPS models. I mean, having the high pixel density display is nice. I don't know if I should go for the 15-inch model now. :/
I really like the design of the Inspiron, but I just don't want to settle for 1080P when everyone is going QHD+. -
Most everything is so small, it's unusable. Some things scale correctly, others (like remote desktop sessions) do not and have unbelievably small controls and icons.
But, if the LCD panels are good quality (something Dell really needs to concentrate on with their XPS systems), then I'm in! -
-
For anyone in North America wondering where the nvidia 750m graphics cards are in the 15 inch version I was able to add one over the phone when I called Dell earlier today. They were however unable to add a 1080p or even 900p screen to the 15 inch.
-
-
So, should we start up Owners Threads for the various models? The 15" & 17" models are nearly identical, so perhaps they could share a thread? The 14" model is fairly different in build, so it should probably have it's own thread.
-
imo 1080p screen is great for me i cant go back to those low res screen my gf has one i got for her and when i look at the screen its hard for me to read.
why is it soo hard to find a decent laptop with a 1080 screen and a 4th gen i5 pros and a big battery seems like every laptop has a issue small battery low res screen , non upgrade able memory etc.... -
After talking to a different representative at Dell I was told that the 1080p resolution would be available in 3 days (which puts it on the 6th) he didn't have pricing available for that configuration though. Hopefully some reviews of it will pop up somewhere before then since this is one of the first laptops I've seen that has everything I've wanted in it (minus an ssd)
