For those interested in getting a good deal on a system, Dell Outlet Home has the new Inspiron notebooks availble now. I've personally bought an outlet system, a previoulsy ordered new, and got a great deal on a returned, never used system. The Inspiron desktops are also available. The links are below for those interested!

Do the coupons work on those? Otherwise they're not that good of a deal considering they're refurbished/scratched/dented/etc....

Just a FYI for all you Dell heads...
I've been checking delloutlet.com for a week or so now, just seeing what inventory shows up (it changes by the minute). Just a few minutes ago I noticed the Home Notebooks section changed from the 1501/1405 type machines, to the new Inspirons.
EDIT: someone else beat me to it by a few minutes:

The coupons don't work on the refurbished. If you have bought a refurbished system before, every few months they send out a coupon for 10-12% off their refurbished line. There is a website that has refurb coupons but I can never remember what its called. Maybe Google it.
I bought a Previously Ordered New system from the refurb line. That is a system that someone buys, they receive it (or maybe it gets lost in shipping) and for whatever reason, they want to return it. These systems are most of the time not opened at all and if opened, they are not powered on. There is a way for Dell to test this.
I just looked and they had a bunch of black 1520s, all with the same specs, probably from one buyer who just decided to return them all for whatever reason. But since they have already been sold once, they have to be sold as a refurb. But they are brand new.
Yeah, you can buy a refurbished (something that has been used and had whatever problem) or scratch and dent (cosmetic problems) but Previously Ordered New is the way to go if you are buying a refurb, in my opinion. I am extremely happy with the system I purchased a few months ago for my sister. Works like a charm and she loves it.

After hearing about all the problems on our forums from the people who ultimately returned their notebooks, I would not want to touch their refurbished models.
A Dell rep told me a little tip a few years ago:
1) When a new laptop comes out, wait a month or two before purchasing.
2) Check the Outlet, see how many laptops are sitting there.
3) If there are a lot then it is a sign the laptop may not have the best build quality.
Of course, it is really only valid for a few months as after that Dell may or may not put a lot of the refurbs online at the same time someone returns it. -
I'm curious if these are the first batch of returns with grainy screens, light leaks, etc.

BEWARE the 'Island of Unwanted Inspirons'
No one wants an Inspiron with grainy screen
... or one with a botched color job
... or whiny processor
They're all MisFits!!
Don't worry, Santa will pick them all up and find them a loving home in some 3rd world country
