Interesting! I already read about this yesterday on Engadget, but this is the first time I actually looked at the specs.
It actually says that the processor model number is a Z530 (not the Dell model number) and type is Intel Atom at 1.33 Ghz. Is this an unannounced Atom processor or so? Have we heard of this processor before?
I know that a dual core Atom is coming with the number 330 or so. This being a 12 inch notebook, could this Z series be a higher end Atom line by Intel? Also dual core I guess looking at the low clock speed. -
That's the Dell Mini 9 (as it is known on the Dell website) and you can already pre-order them through dell starting at £299. Been on the Dell UK site for a while.
I would imagine the processor is the same as in the Acer One but with a different clock speed? -
this one is 12 inches WXGA True life
Mini 9: 1.6GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB
12 inch: 1.33 GHz 533MHz 1MB Cache 533MHz
Mini 9 SS drive
This 40GB 4.200 rpm -
The Z530 Atom is 1.6 GHz, while the Z520 would be 1.33 GHz, this seems to be conflicting with the Tesco specs. Also all of them so far only have 512K of Cache. But, I am going to go with Intel knowing the specs on its own processors.
-
That is probably the Insprion Mini 12...we've been kind of hearing rumors about it.
-
i will wait till oct 3 to get the inspiron mini 12
i am happy about this because i just cant get my head around to believe people are actually content with WSVGA screen.
the mini 12 i believe comes with a true HD WXGA screen.
it seems like this one is more geared towards students.
this is a list of atom CPUs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Atom_microprocessors
*WSVGA -- 1024x600
*WXGA --- 1280x720 or 1280x768 or 1280x800 or 1366x768 -
I will have to keep my eye on this one... might stop me from plunging into the netbook arena quite so soon.
-
It's quite likely the the Tesco website made a mistake in the details and it's more than likely that this will be a Tesco exclusive model.
I see that they've bumped the price of their I9 version by £20 since last week: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-8967.aspx -
Maybe by the time this one rolls out, the I9 will have some more color choices, and such! LOL
Or, maybe they would wait and do a roll out of the I9 w/the I2...marketing them both together for great savings, etc...Pre Holiday savings???
Cin -
The colours will come I'm sure, my guess is soonish; after the initial rush, but in good time for Christmas when folk are more influenced by such things.
I'd like a blue one. -
And truly for the Holiday season! It would be cool for the changes to happen, when the I12 was rolled out though!
I want the *red* lol.

It's interesting that this info comes from Tesco. They have the financial clout and market position to get deals out of Dell and possibly early release dates. And yet sloppy copywriters who put iffy stuff on their website
I'm sure that if these dates and specs weren't fairly close to the truth all this stuff would have been taken down days ago.
BTW Cin' - Our avatars work well together above -
LOL I saw that above

I like it a lot, a 12" netbook. 10" is just too small and 1024*600 is just not enough space.
I wonder if the 40GB/4200rpm is a 1.8". -
There should be enough room for a 2.5 and 1.8 will be more expensive, so I'd hope not. I'm thinking of the possiblities: 320gig netbook anybody.
A while ago 13" laptops were expensive, now the I13, Vostro 1310 and a few others are more affordable. Anything smaller was very expensive but now even these are getting cheaper: I stumbled across the Tesco offer while looking for a 12" Fujistsu offer that was just £60 more than the 8.9" Mini. A bit chunky for a netbook but complete with DVD writer... Stunning value.
I reckon affordable 12" models will be just as popular as the smaller ones and at the moment Dell seem to have thought of it. -
i hope dell managed to squeeze the mini 12 to a size ≤ a letter paper
it will be nice for it to be same or smaller than a class notebook
and also borderline 1" thick
wish it could be 0.5" thick but thats like 5 years too early
getting there though -
Those specs have obvious mistakes (model is processor, dimensions), but I´m more worried about its weight: I find it next to impossible that they managed to make a 4 cm longer computer keeping the MSI Wind's weight (29.9 cm vs 26cm, same 1.2 Kg).
Any official specs about this?? -
I always figured they would go with an 11 not a 12. So 9, 11, 13, 15, 17
-
These slides match up with the specs on the Tesco site. Looks good too.
-
Those slides have been available on Engadget and Gizmodo for months. There are 10 or 15 slides featuring the entire "Mini" series.
-
These slides are different than these just posted by Jayson.

It's part of the same series. Look at the graphics.
-
