Just got my new M1210 yesterday, and in the process of setting it up I went over to My Account on Dell's website and set it as my new default system. Upon doing so, I noticed that I have 1784 days left on the warrant. This surprised me as I was pretty sure the laptop only came with a limited one year warranty. I double checked and sure enough, the confirmation e-mail said only one year. But here's the breakdown on the warranty service from Dell's site...

Description Provider Start Date End Date Days Left
    Complete Care DELL 9/9/2006 9/8/2009 1054
Keep Your Hard Drive Service DELL 9/9/2006 9/8/2011 1784
    Next Business Day DELL 10/14/2006 10/14/2007 359
    Next Business Day DELL 9/9/2006 9/9/2007 324
    Next Business Day DELL 9/9/2007 9/8/2009 730
    Technical Support - Phone Assistance DELL 10/14/2006 10/14/2007 359
    Technical Support - Phone Assistance DELL 9/9/2006 9/9/2007 324
    Technical Support - Phone Assistance DELL 9/9/2007 9/8/2009 730
    XPS Technical Support DELL 10/14/2006 10/14/2007 359

It does say I have the regular warranty for a year, but it also says I have complete care for 1,000 days. Isn't that the service where they'll repair broken parts from accidents? And what the heck is the keep your harddrive service?

Silly non-Americans trying to change our spelling ;) It's color, favor, and aluminum, dangit! But it looks as if they've given you a good deal (which is always good to have with Dell... I've had and seen more problems with their systems than anyone elses)

Dell's keep your hard drive service is for companies. When something goes wrong with the hard drive, the warranty requires you return it all for repair. This way you can keep your hard drive and all of the information you have stored on it.

From this info, I can tell that you bought your M1210 from the Outlet. The original ship date for the 1st order was shipped out on Sept 9 while after it's returned, offered on the outlet & snapped up by you. It is shipped out on Oct 14.

Dell generally do not delete the original or any previous warranty information. So that's why you're seeing what the previous warranty contains. I'm sure that only the warranty you bought (start date - Oct 14) applies to you but if you want to be sure, do contact Dell & double check with them.

Speed sums it up pretty well. You just see that you do but you dont actually have the services.

That's what I was afraid of. I was going to call Dell and ask them first, but I figure if I currently do have the service, that they'd correct their mistake after my asking specifically to confirm what kind of warranty I have.

Whoever bought this system originally must have had their configuration costing in excess of $2,500 with all the hardware and warranties they put on it....

Dell's system warranty information does eventually get up to date, but in the mean time you can possibly avail of any service listed for your system.
I bought an outlet system with 1 year CAR but it still had the first owner's 3 year NBD listed for it. I had a few issues with it after I bought it and I got the NBD warranty service.
The DSR's can only go by what's entered in their system for your machine.
