If you are a new or potential new buyer, take a look at the thread below:

    http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/pro...xpsnb_m1330?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs#reviews

Yes, it is posted on Dell but the posters are real people, 43 in total. They're approval rating of this laptop is 4.6 out of 5 stars which really surprised me but its there (yes, I know on the dell site).

Having said that, please don't come to the site and panic. Many fail to realize that the majority of people who have come to the site, have done so because they have problems and don't know where to turn. They are here...already in the negative.

Then there are those of us who have been here so long we know each and every little flaw that this machine can have, so we look for it.

You will read about tons of flaws...but few who don't love their system when they get it. Their are a few however and, as in sales of each and every product, there is occasionally a lemon shot out.

Here at notebookreview.com, we are actually just that, a bunch of lemons.

99.9% of the population would never ever have noticed the side of the keyboard that has a bit of flex or the HD cover that is not completely flush or the SD slot where the SD sticks out a bit (its supposed to by the way) or the remote that sticks out just a millimetre (again its supposed to) or the light bleed from the laptop (my wife still howls over this) or most other things.

We lemons here at notebookreview have trained ourselves to spot these totally non-sensical things.

We have become particularly good at some things, however. The guy without the OS installed...Good Job!!! And the completely bent laptop...Again Good Job!!! And lets not forget the dented systems and systems that the hinge wasnt attached...Excellent Investigative work!!! and the cover with teeth...that was a great one!!!

Alas we must remember, these real and more evident observations actually fall within the 1-2 percent mark or, as we like to describe it, the class of lemons that we are.

Many have found that there are actually benefits to these systems that lie in the article below about 'Getting Money Back'. Some, unfortunately haven't had such luck but are once again simply a minority.

Having said all that, there is still one unmentioned thing that I should discuss, this being the dreaded squeal. Believe it or not, its not loud and some find it very laughable. (again my wife comes into it) As humans, we all different in race, religion, speach and, yes, in stature. Some have hearing like dogs which means that the high pitch squeal that one cannot here, drives the other through the roof.

I have even heard of one or two posters starting to howl with the laptop after a few minutes trying to fight it.

In the end, you need to realize this about the squeal. You can't escape it. It has been around since 1994 as early as I could find and evident in every processor (as we think) and every manufacturer. Unlike a bad marriage, you can'd divorce this, just hope it fades or dissappears.

There...all done now. I sincerely hope that I have alleviated some of the growing concern about the M1330. If you think you got problems, try being an Apple owner for awhile. I can't understand how your supposed to type on a laptop when everyones trying to take a bite out of it.

PS. Dont you wonder why this laptop never came out in a 'Lemon Yellow' or 'Screaming Silver'?

I agree. This forum is for the negatives for a notebook and I think it should be split into another forum called "dell problems" rather than Dell questions that new buyers come here to ask. This notebook is FANTASTIC. I could not say it any other way.

I really hope this m1330 laptop will be perfect when I receive mine. It's a good deal since it's much cheaper than a similarly spec-ed Sony. But if it turns out to be a lemon like what a lot of people here have, then it's refund time. I won't even bother with an exchange, it's too time consuming. Might get a SZ-691 if this doesn't work out. But anyways, here's to a flawless m1330.

Gotta see the receipt to see that price paid. Its impossible that you just got a 4400 laptop for 1266...post it. My next concern would be that, in Canada, we don't have and cannot extend to 4year complete care while you paid Canadian?

Next, if its a lemon, don't bother with the refund...Ill buy your lemon for that price. You would virtually have gotten the whole system, and warranty, for free and paid just for the 64Gb SSD (@$1000) as that is the cost with tax for the SSD alone.

Sorry gotta see this one to believe it.

Having said that, you'de be my hero though if you actually got that for that price somehow...nope..not possible.

Its not possible in Canada. Even if you pay by Credit card, they only double the warranty on the first year and that counts during the second...so there is no fourth.

I got my price through working with Dell on a few issues.

64Bit is not an option but....

Trebuin has ramrodded a thread and done alot of background and a number have followed with their installations off 64Bit successfully. All the drivers are available for a perfect system except for the Soundblaster audigy option; its a no go. Their are 64bit sound drivers for the normal system however which work great.

I have 64Bit right now on both my systems and have no compatibility issues with 32 bit thusfar...It also runs about 10-15% faster.

My HDTune scores upwards around 65-70mb/s on average

I'm not dissing your article. But, I would like to point out some "errors"...

-There's no reason for Dell to post negative reviews.

-The severity of some of the problems are too great to ignore. Why would there be a laptop bent like a Roman arch?

-Also, the greatest problem is the delay. You fail to even mention that. And, I'm sure that the laptop delays did not happen to a "minority".

    -Very bad costumer service.

P.S: liquiplasma HTH did you receive yours on the same day that you ordered?????

    Jarrod...

Breath..this article was done in jest, a mockery... a bit of humour if I may.

    It was a parody.

I thought it was pretty freakin funny too!!!!

Damn. I didn't see it was ironic before I read the "PS. Dont you wonder why this laptop never came out in a 'Lemon Yellow' or 'Screaming Silver'?" part.
