I posted this a couple of weeks ago but can't seem to get any help. Here is my problem it is very minor but annoying!!

Anyway everytime i reboot my M65 the desktop icons all go back to the order the are defaulted at. ie if i move an icon to the right of the desktop it will go back to the left after a reboot.

More annoyingly is the fact that I have to go in an reset the "Show Quick Launch" Every time I reboot. I have gotten used to the quick launch icons, especially the "show desktop" one and blah blah blah.....

PLEASE HELP!!! If anyone wants more pics (Specs or any information I have for that matter) of the M65 (it is pretty much just like the D820) I will gladly trade pics for advice :)

    Any suggestions?????????

You can lock them into place where you want the desktop icons with a simple registry hack.

First set your icons how you want them. Click START go up to RUN and type in REGEDIT then click ok. The new window that opens is your registry, don't mess with anything in there though unless you specificly knows what it is and does.

Once in the registry you'll need to add a new key (sounds confusing but it's simple, just do the directions step by step and you'll be alright).

Click on the little + and - symbols to drill all the way down to the following spot in your registry...

    - HKEY_CURRENT_USER

    - Software

    - Microsoft

    - Windows

    - CurrentVersion

    - Policies

    - Explorer

With "Explorer Highlighted on the left pane right click in the right pane and select New,

    DWORD Value

name it (exactly, pay attention to UPPER/lower case lettering, no spaces)...

    NoSaveSettings

and press the Enter key. Right-click on the new NoSaveSettings item and select Modify. Enter 1 in the Value data box.

If you for what ever reason want to turn this back off you can just change that 1 you entered in to a 0, or delet the NoSaveSettings key you created.

Make sure you get it in the correct location and no typos or it will not work for you.

Thanks I love it, I am actually have trouble with my old CPU (the one on the right) and the monitor on the right 17" Flatscreen came FREE with my Laptop so I have been using it in conjunction with my laptop, it is pretty neat. and works well. I also am using synergy so I can use the same keyboard and mouse for all three.

Still wish I could figure out how to keep my quick launch icons on my taksbar!!!!
