New Order-Hoping for Faster Delivery

I've been reading the posts here of all the delivery delays. It seems the majority of the delays are for the XPS laptops, so maybe I will luck out.

I ordered a Inspiron 1525 on 06/22/08 and the estimated shipping date is 07/15/08. Today, the automated phone system indicated that my new laptop is in the building phase.

Hopefully, they will be able to ship prior to the estimated date. I'll keep you all posted as to how it goes.

There is a shortage of 9 cell batteries, so you won't be kept out of the delays. Sorry

 

I agree...chances are your laptop will be shipped pretty close to the ESD, or possibly even after it...

 

They really should notify people of this. When I ordered mine they say only the 6 cell is having delays, the next day they say the 9 cell is becoming short to. Why do these shortages happen anyways?

 

Same thing happened to me, I ordered mine the 6 cell was delayed but the 9 cell wasn't, so I got the 9 cell. Did your order get delayed? I ordered the 9 cell on 6/18/08, but haven't received a delay email yet. Hopefully I'm not screwed over.

 

Yeah I get mine mid-August, and the second shipment with the accessories comes in September, lol (dunno the reason for that yet, they say they'll get back to me).

I would like to know why they are having these problems though :\ I haven't heard of any other manufacturers having battery trouble.

 

Dang I WISH my ESD was middle of July...the only reason I opted for the 9-cell was because it was a free upgrade that was part of the summer savings deal and I had heard the 6-cell was backordered.

So much for that logic...I wouldn't have placed an order if I knew it would take 6 1/2 weeks to get here. Starting to look around at other manufacturers now...

 

I am not sure why dell has so many battery delays. It is most likely due to low output from whoever they are having build the batteries or supply the equipment to build the batteries.

 

According to the automated line, my laptop is now in the boxing stage!

 

Battery delays are because of the recent fire at the north korean Lg chem factory

 

Whoa, very interesting! The Order Status Website shows a shipping date of 06/29/08 and estimated delivery of 07/02/08, and the automated line confirms.

However, at this point I do not have a carrier or tracking number. The additional information from the automated line is that the package is in transit to the carrier.

I hope the July 2nd delivery date is correct, but I'm happy that it looks like it should definitely be this week!

 

UGH! totally unfair =/. I ordered my lappy on 6/14 and my ESD was originally 6/27, got pushed back to 7/1 and I'm now also in the boxing stage like you.

 

Progress! I got a tracking number this morning, and now the DHL site is telling me that the package in in transit to the sorting hub in Kansas City. Since I live in KC, it looks like the July 2nd delivery date is quite possible.

 

Wow! Now that IS some good news!

I ordered my Studio 15 on 6/27 with a ESD of 7/15.

I checked the progress. Amazingly enough that Friday night it was in build. Monday was testing, and today 7/1 it's boxing already.

So maybe I'll strike it lucky and get it earlier as well.

 

Good luck to you. My laptop was delivered today. As it turns out, I came home for lunch just on the hope that it might be delivered at noon, and just minutes after I got home, the DHL truck pulled up outside my house.

I am typing this message on my new laptop. It's very nice!

 

Lucky! Grats on the new notebook! I tried to do the same thing on my lunch hour, but no luck...

My package made it to Minneapolis last night, but somehow couldn't make the 1 hour drive to my house in a full day...pretty pathetic. Hopefully tomorrow...

 

supply and demand. Right now there is a high demand as a lot of people are graduating high school and getting laptops as presents for college. Also they just had some really good deals like 25% off laptops so there are a lot of people (like me) who ordered them.
