I have an XPS M1530 with Vista Home Premium and unfortunately it has a RICOH chipset for the firewire port. Now I ran into issues with that port using Sonar 7 SE and my Firewire Solo card. There are crackles when it plays. (The dual core CPU is not at 100% at any time.)

So my question is: Is there a newer RICOH driver out there apart from the old one that is on the DELL support website?

Upon reading a little bit more: Is there a native MS Vista driver for the firewire port?

There was a whole big issue with the 1330's firewire and a sound card (don't know which one, I am sorry). You might want to search for firewire and 1330 and see if the thread pulls up (it is large, over 100 pages). Once you find the thread, you could search it for the specific card. Also, check out the last page for a fix for a possible problem.

I read it all and it was not the cable. I don't have a DVD drive either and no IRQ conflicts. :-(
