    Wow, that's a great deal, roughly $1000 canadian, dell would probably charge at least $2000 for it here. :(

    Interesting, they fixed the two major complaints on the Studio 14z by putting in a VGA port and optical drive. Great move.

    Now this is what i'm talking about!!! When's it coming to the UK? :p

    Are you sure it's not the 4330? I really do hope it's a 4530, but Dell's been mixing them up recently on their product pages with typos.

    1600x900 res, Blu-ray & DDR3 RAM too. Awesome. Now all I need to know is if the GPU uses GDDR3 or DDR2/3...

    Edit: Um, 1.52 inches does seem kind of thick. I would still consider buying it though if it gets released here. Does the 9-cell battery sit flush with the case like the 14z too?

    This is perfect for people who want an optical drive with their 14z. People who don't mind not having one can shave off 300g, so at least the options are there.

    I'm still waiting for the new Inspiron 13 though.

    Hey, according to the site, this isn't a new model (it has user-reviews). Which means it's unlikely to be released anywhere else. If that's the case, this sucks. I was so looking forward to getting this too.

    It is actually a new model, they keep the reviews for the older model Studio 14.

    I'm pretty sure it was like that for the Studio 1555 too, it would have the same reviews as the older studio 1537.

    The 4530 is marginally better than the 4330, and slower than the 4570. If you take a look at the 3dMark 06 scores:

    HD 4330 = 2,577 avg
    HD 4530 = 3,078 avg
    HD 4570 = 3,754 avg

    Sure, these are synthetic benchmarks, but even so, you can see the 4530 is not up to the same level as the 4570.

    damm..why did dell put a slower gpu in this...thou i preferred 14" over 15.6" but this seems to be the deal breaker for me (unless it is priced much lower than 1555 here in india :p )

    Sure it's a slower GPU, but honestly, you want a 14" machine for gaming?

    The real life performance difference between a 4530 & a 4570 is probably not going to be much. Neither is going to be amazingly brilliant at playing games such as Crysis on anything other than low - medium settings.

    I am in college so will be moving it a lot hence was thinking of getting a 14" ..My current 15.4" looks a bit big so didn't want to go for 15.6...

    isn't 14" decent enough for gaming :confused:

    You'd struggle to find a 14" machine that is a gaming rig; but then it depends on what you term "gaming". If playing Crysis on low to medium settings is fine, then you'll be ok.

    The 4330, 4530, and 4570 are all essentially the same card. Same number of shaders (16) and transistors. Manufactured on a 55nm process and use a 64-bit bus, so they are all pretty much entry-level graphic cards so don't expect to do much gaming on any of them. Most multi-platform games being released today would run smooth on low-medium settings, including Crysis, on a low res.

    The only difference between them are the clock rates. The 4530 is basically an overclocked 4330 so the power draw will only be slightly higher so it fits why they would use it in this notebook.

    4330=Inspiron 13/14/17
    4530=Studio 14
    4570=Studio 15

    I would've preferred they used 40nm DX11 GPUs but that probably won't happen till next year with Calpella.

    My 4570 can run Crysis quite nice and smooth at my native 720p resolution. It's quite a capable card.

    Does it look blocky and ugly or does it look crisp and nice?

    In fact, can we see some screen shots please?

    Yes at native resolution, but I'm going to bet this is at low - medium settings rather than high.

    I mean it's fine, there is nothing wrong with that, you can still play the game - but I think it's important that a comment like that is qualified with the graphics settings.

    It's on all low settings except Volumetrics and Textures, both at medium. It still looks great; Crysis is a beautiful game no matter what. :)

    I'll get some screencaps later.
    Fair points. For the record, as stated above, all the settings are at low except for medium volumetric effects and textures. And it looks (and runs) great.

    i joined the forum now, with a specific purpose -
    i am almost going to buy this system.
    intel p7550 processor - 2.26 GHz, 1066 FSB, 3M
    and want to know if it is decent enough

    how long will it be before this type of processors will be outdated and those i7 / i5 will take over?

    right now m getting 2 GB DDR2 ram, will upgrade it as i get more money.

    i am not a serious gamer, like never heard of crisis till today, but will play an occasional game.
    a few things i wanted to know-
    is the ATI 4530 the top card available in inspiron 14? if any other is there, what will be the price difference, in US dollars (its about 50 Indian ruppes a dollar, by dell rates across US and India websites)?
    right now i am being offered a 4330, which i gather isnt worth the money being spent on it.

    what is the general speed of RAM in this series? i wasn't aware that this is important, but if it is, what should i expect it to be minimum.

    what is WLED screen and is it available in this series?

    i am getting it for around Rs45000 which will be about 1300 USD. directly from dell. so no taxes either.
    seems reasonable?
    what else should i watch out for?
