Hi all - first post. Maybe someone else has encountered this - or if you're expecting a Studio 17 to be delivered in the immediate future maybe this is a little warning.

Ordered my Studio 17 last friday morning (from the UK). It was delivered this morning (28/08/08). Great looking machine. BUT - as Vista started booting up and the desktop appeared everything was not as wanted - graphics look like low 16bit setting... everything pixelated... like looking at an old TV up close. Now and then the any white areas on the screen are flashing green. Not good. Had a look at the display settings and everythink looked fine.

So, on the phone to Tech Support straight away (nice guy in Bangalore). He connected to the machine, checked the settings and then installed version 8 of the ATI Catalyst Centre. He mentions that this my machine is one of the first of a new batch to go out - this problem hasn't been reported before. He managaed to tweak the settings and fix the problem (something to do with the Avivio Video section) and all is well until he logs out of my machine - everything goes back to old TV. Seems the machine won't accept the settings.

He's had to take this problem to a higher lever. Had an email earlier saying i might take 15-20 to get sorted out. I can't find any other reports of this on Google - so watch out nre Studio 17 owners.

If I were you, I'd just uninstall the video adapter in device manager as well as any software related to it (catalyst, etc) from programs and features. Then I would install the latest Omega drivers. ( http://www.omegadrivers.net/)

    See if that helps.

Mine has color banding issues. Also, I see splotches, and diagonal refresh lines on certain colors. New LCD and/or card for me.

Also, I tried updating the drivers but the old numbers kept showing. Am I installing them wrong?

Be sure to uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones.
