Hello all fairly new to the forums, been reading a while to decide what laptop I wanted to purchase.
I ended up buying an XPS 1710 and I actually just revieved it today.
So far its awesome, the specs are duo 1.83, 2 gigs of 667 ram, 100 gig 7200 rpm HD, 7900 GTX 512, win xp, that stupid sound software upgrade.. i got an extra 9 cell battery and a backpack for it + 3 year complete care warranty . In total I paid 3400$ canadian with tax, probably got hosed but owell.
A few questions I had, anyway to check the cpu+gpu temps without installing anything else?
And where does everyone download there benchmark programs from.
I was going to take some pics but everyones already seen the black 1710 and i dont have access to my digi cam.
Oh figured id add i got the Samsung screenw/truelife and its deadly, no light leakage and it looks very clean. Any questions about it fire away.

for monitoring, i9kfangui (google it) a small program specifically for temperature monitoring/fan control on dell laptops, though i'm not sure if they work 100% flawlessly with the duo yet. The xps might have its own program, i dunno.

the benchmarking tests are at www.futuremark.com and it's usually 3dmark05/06 for benchmarking graphics performance, though most people still use 3dmark05.
