Hey.
I'm looking at getting the M1330 from NZ and just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or have already make the plunge.
What's the deal your looking at or getting?
Are there any good coupon's available for us?
Cheers

Yes, same boat here...
I am likely to buy a m1330 in the next couple of days but I would like to get the integrated graphics which is not an option on the NZ website at the moment (only Nvidia here). I tried to contact them by email but they don't seem to be responding to emails!! I've also tried to configure a m1330 and ask for "sales help"...Same result! And there's no chat available... I guess I should call them.
I am also keen to know if there is any coupon/discount available...
Anyone knows if we can get good discounts by haggling over the phone here? -
I'd recommend just taking the nvidia because you can do all graphics with it. Also, for those who want to save power, you can use a utility like rivatuner and downclock the video card to run much slower than even the intel.
-
Oh this is cool... I never knew this existed!! -
I'm also from NZ, I can tell you right now that the coupons you see here in this website do not work in the Dell NZ site
. However you are able to get up to 8% EPP discount.

Here's a question, my fellow Kiwi's... Which Battery are you going for?
I'll probably jump in the next month or two, but am tossing up between an ultra-light 4 cell battery, and the heavy-but useful (air circulation wise) 9-cell.
It's just that I've had MASSIVE problems with my acer aspire and it's heat, and I'm game about having it lying on uneven surfaces (knees etc). I mean an ultraportable like this just BEGS to be used lying in bed/on the couch/in a hammock. -
Great to see there's a few of us kiwi's here.
I'm going for the 9cell. Really need the extra juice for traveling.
I'm looking to order mine in the coming weeks though the phone. Seems that is the only way that we can get a discount on them. EPP definitely doesn't work. Tried everything. -

When did you order this KamiCrazy?
-
A $3,000 laptop, I would really recommend going for the 2 years complete cover warranty.
-
I've got a business trip coming up and heading to the UK for awhile. Would the warranty cover my time over there? Could be 3 or 4 months.
-
Some news for my kiwi friends:
I got an email from a dell rep this evening. He confirms:
*the X3100 will not be available in the near future.
*The only deals available are the one advertised online. No way to add/remove anything.
*No discount possible neither byordering by email or over the phone...
* 4 weeks delivery time
So, I am not too sure now...I am waiting to see the price of the sony sz6 and the fujitsu s6410...and see if this rivatuner software is so good to downclock this Nvidia I don't need...
Ranokivio -
Will probably pick up a spare later on, just in case I need the extra juice.
I pre-ordered mine from Dell NZ on 2nd July, should hopefully have it by the end of the month. I believe they are supposed to start shipping on the 20th July here? -
Personally thats not much of an issue for me since I already ordered.
My order date was 14th of july. So for me it will be a 3 week waiting period if it comes on time.
My only gripe with the laptop is
a) I think I will be upset with the graphics card. I may return the laptop or onsell it for this reason
b) my dell 2407 doesn't have HDMI, so I will have to use VGA (YUCK). -
I've just put an order in for one, 2Ghz, 4Gb Ram, 160Gb HDD, 9 cell battery - otherwise pretty much standard.
Still waiting for Dell to contact me re: payment and confirm the order.
But really looking forward to the day it arrives!
But noticed when I ordered it, Dell had on the customisation page they were due to be shipped on the 20 July. But today, the same page showed 30 July. -
has anyone noticed that the priced has jumped $200 since last month? seems like these are selling like hotcakes
its probably the best thing dell has ever come up with and could be the very system that turns things around for dell -
You may notice on the Dell NZ web site that there are three M1330 offerings at different prices. What may not be so obvious is that if you spec up all these to the maximum spec the one that started as the cheapest is now $3800, the dearest now $3100.
The other thing you should know is they are now charging credit cards at order time, whereas with my M1210 they charged at time of despatch.
White WLED/2.2Ghz/4Mb/160Gb7200RPM/6Cell/FPR
Ordered 25 July, due 14 Aug -
Has any Kiwi had one delivered yet? -
Ordered mine on 23/7, supposed to arrive around the 17/8, maybe...
I see they are telling people its a 4 to 7 week wait if you order one now. I'll let you know if mine gets delayed at all. Which might be highly likely! -
Wow times change, I remember stating in this thread that the projected ship date in NZ was 20th July. Now its looking closer to late August - early September.
My new est. delivey date is 16th August, but with it being 11th August here and still in pre-production I'm not holding by breath
No matter, as I need something before the end of the month I've got a HP dv6500t arriving shortly, will decide which one to keep when the dell gets here I guess. -

Dell CSR are horrible to deal with, I have an EDD of 17th of August but I HIGHLY doubt that my laptop will turn up until mid September.
I have been waiting 6 weeks now, and have no faith in Dell any more. -
Andrewthrift - Im in wellington and ordered 17th July, i have exactly the same set up as you but with a White display and 6 cell batt. I have EDD of 10 September so good luck for your 17th Aug delivery date!I agree the CSR are useless, kniving aswell. I wonder if anyone in NZ have this yet.
-
I pulled the trigger and ordered mine on the 3rd of August.
Core2Duo Processor T7300
2GB (2 X 1024MB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2
Tuxedo Black LCD display with Integrated 2.0 mega pixel web cam
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 128MB GDDR3
160GB SATA Hard Drive
6-cell Battery
Didn't go for the WLED as I couldn't find the extra money.
I also thought that it might reduce the EDD.
EDD is 24th of September and I leave for the UK on the 1st of October.
So it's pushing it... touch wood I get it in time. -
Well I just checked my order and it would seem that it is in the 'Shipping from Factory' stage as of the 15th. I might just get my m1330 well before the EDD.
-
Mayhem, what setup did you get?LED? when did you order?
-
gucci6, my setup is in post #27.
03-Aug-2007 Order Placed
(Paid by cheque and mucked around for a week before I sent it)
10-Aug-2007 Order Received
10-Aug-2007 Order released to manufacturing
15-Aug-2007 Ship from Factory
22-Aug-2007 Estimate Delivery Date -
I just spoke with one of their CSR and she told me that the parts were not even arriving until the 24th of August for my laptop!!!!
I cannot believe I have had to wait a month and a half and they dont even have the parts yet, it is even more annoying when a lot of people in the US are getting their laptops with a 1 to 2 week wait that are similar spec to mine! -
Cool thanks for that. You could possibly be the first in NZ to get it. I got the LED screen in White so i have to wait longer.
-
Last to order and first to receive.
Doesn't sound to fair to me.
But if it does arrive soon, I wouldn't be complaining. -
Andrew thrift, im in the same boat. Ordered 17th July. Have they taken payment? Managed to get a $90 refund for the inconvenience which is pathetic i know. It was either that or a free laptop bag.
-
From the posts so far, the NZ order list goes something like this...
LiddoKun:
Ordered 02th July, EDD 16th August
AndrewThrift:
Ordered 04th July, EDD 17th August
KamiCrazy:
Ordered 14th July, EDD 07th August
Gucci6:
Ordered 17th July, EDD 10th August
Empacher48:
Ordered 23rd July, EDD 17th August
Ranokivio:
Ordered 24th July, EDD 23rd Augus
Rohan Smoon:
Ordered 25th July, EDD 14th August
Mayhem_nz:
Ordered 03rd August, EDD 10th September
Stage - Shipped from Factory
If everyone posts what stage of delivery they are in I'll update. -
I got no refund, in fact I complained about the fact that for about $200 less I could get the same spec machine now but with 4GB of ram instead of 2GB. After a bit of mucking around they changed my order to that deal, but would not credit me the difference and threw in that piece of crap printer to try and appease me.
And yes, they took my money on the day I ordered. -
Good Stuff Mayhem, here goes
Ordered 17 July - EDD 10 August
Cancelled By Dell - 02 August - (Site offered 4cell batt with graphics card. Compatibility issue. Found out when i phoned them)
New order - 02 August
EDD - 10 September -
Good on ya Mayhem;
As of today, Ordered 23 July, still in build, still telling me EDD is tomorrow.....Yeah Right!!!
But when Dell want to move, they can move, I ordered a new LCD screen for a desktop on Monday morning, and its going to be on my door step tomorrow morning!
But the notebook side of things is a whole different story! -
gucci6 - what stage are you?
-
Im still in "Work in Progress", for the past month and a half
-
Bad news...I have been called by dell today....And it seems my M1330 (white, LED) is delayed (again) and will not be shipped before the end of September...He offered me the printer, a 150$ upgrade or 100 bucks as a compensation. I told him I will call him back tomorrow. I will try to negociate the 2 years dellcare warranty (I have currently the 1 year completecare). If it doesn't work, I will get the money...
I guess I could cancel but I can wait and I can't see any other laptop with the same specs around... -
Its now 16th August here (so is my EDD), so I'm hoping they'll update with a more 'accurate' EDD soon. As already mentioned here, I suspect it will be an early september delivery.
Heres hoping it doesn't effect shipment of black/crimson screens to that extent. -
I'd definitely go for the warranty. Push them and try and get the 3 year warranty for free. -
EDD has been changed to 22nd of August. So that's a whole month before original EDD.
My hopes for a faster delivery with the black non-LED display paid off. -
I had cancelled my order ages ago, after they pushed back my EDD by a week and a half. I was not happy with the supply issues.
I have gone back to the drawing board, looking for alternatives. The only one I can find is the MBP 15.4" but I want to have more options to consider. -
I just talked to Dell about my order, and it looks like the parts they are waiting for, won't be arriving until the 31st of August, and hope to get the machine to me 6 days after that!!! So it looks like another 3 week wait for me!
-
Ranokivio - I may the same set up as you - 1.8ghz C2D,160gb HDD,White/LED,4gb RAM.Orginially $2499, minus $90 as compensation for the delay. My CSR said she could confrim a delivery prior to 10 September. Lets all hope for the best. If you say is true i will go after a longer warranty too!
-
ordered 3rd august, EDD is 10 sept (i think). dont really care. i'll start complaining when the time comes.
its very likely dells in the asia pacific region are assembled in malaysia so if you know anyone who works there might be able to tell you a more realistic estimate. i'm sure they make staff work 24/7 over there, so it wouldnt surprise me if if it would take under 6 days to arrive -
So I called back the rep yesterday and he confirmed the delay (mid september).
I asked for a longer warranty instead of the printer as a compensation, he said "no, too expensive, the upgrade should be less than 150NZ$". I said "Yes, but I will get my laptop 2 months after my payment so I was thinking..."
He said: "Sorry, I can't do it. Do you want to cancel your order?"
I said: "I'll take the 100 bucks..." -
Still a worthy alternative if you don't mind carrying around a 15.4" notebook. The model I picked up only had 1Gb memory but I managed to score 2x 1Gb for a mere NZ$116 at my local store.
