i just received a refurbished battery from dell to replace my old one (it's wear level was increasing a good 10-15% per day) but now that i have my new one, the charging indicator would always show that the battery is charging. NHC would always show the battery at 87%. is there a way for me to recalibrate it so that 87% would show as 100%?

i tried completely discharging it but i guess i didn't do a good job or something... when the battery went into the low battery zone and started to put my computer on standby, i thought that was enough so i started recharging the battery... should i just let it run all the way down completely in order to recalibrate it?

i went into bios to see if theres anything i can do to recalibrate the battery but theres nothing.

Never let a Li battery hit 0%, it can cause perminant damage. You started recharging at the correct time. It looks to me like your board may have an issue charging the battery. Call Dell back, this is one thing on a laptop that you don't want to let go for any extended period of time.

Like gohanssjn said, never let the battery completely discharge.

Have a look at the battery guide.
As for your specific problem, I'm not sure. Contacting Dell sounds like the best option.
