Even though the driver isn't meant for Dell Studio laptops, I think the driver would still work. :)

Hmm, interesting. This could also be the solution for some people with E-series Latitudes experiencing audio problems.

    I'll have to try this.

Sorry guys. I think Dell made a blunder. Apparently, the driver in the package is for Intel Wireless Cards. They've archived the wrong drivers into the package it seems.

    Thanks for the driver, somms.

Should I notify Dell that they have uploaded the wrong driver? How do I contact them?

It seems that Dell has removed the link. I guess they're working to release the correct one now.

    Yes atbnet!
It is very easy at all!
Takes about 2 minutes to modify original BroadCom driver for Dell Wireless cards!

So far the driver is working perfectly, the connection speed seems more stable than with the custom driver that bigdarkmad provided. But I've only used it for a few minutes so far so it's too early to tell if it's the new driver or just coincidence.

I actually installed this for my 1525 with a 1505 wireless driver. It fixed the crackling, but added about 4 seconds to my laptop's startup time.

How do you install your (Dell's) driver - by their installation program or manual?
I always (when it is possible) load my driver just from Device Maganer -> Driver Update!
It will save you some un-need things and icons to your "Start" bar!
This menoth works great for me :)

By the way I had very slow shutdown with "old" WireLess Dell Driver - Really slow 2-3 minutes! After I load my WireLess Driver (remix between Dell's and Broadcom's) this issue was fixed! The crackling sound too!
But some users reports - my driver is little unstable for them!
I will try Dell's New Driver as soon as possible and will report the situation!
More comments are more than welcome :)

Do you have to use Control Panel to uninstall old driver program first or you can just install new one on top?

sometimes new driver Do not really uninstall old driver (like for sound driver) - so to be 100 % sure uninstall it from control panel too!
This always ensure you old driver is gone!

I'm with the last driver from 3 hours and I immediately noticed the sound is one level more clear.
Winamp sound is better, the windows start up sound - crystal clear, before it was like some midi file.
Thank you, may be it is just me, but I really noticed improvements in my sound.
I'm using headphones, so I don't know what is the situation with the integrate speakers
