I just went to the dell website and look at the inspirons and i noticed they now have the option to chose for 120gb hard drive at @7200rpm. This makes me very happy as i want speed but i didnt need 160gb. This will save me $75!

160gb 7200rpm HD is faster than a 120gb 7200rpm HD.
might as well upgrade the HD yourself, buy it from Dell accessories i think its $129 right now for a 160GB 7200RPM HD. Than sell whatever stock HD -
huh??? That makes no sense to me at all. The speed is the same with both. Also is the $129 accessory hard drive compatible with the 1520?

I don't think the 160GB 7200 is faster than the 120GB 7200. The 7200 is the speed and the 160 and 120 is only the size.

larger size=higher density (usually), higher density= better HD performance at the same RPM.
yes the $129 HD is compatible with 1520 -
well since the platter is more dense, there is a shorter distance (sometimes) for the head to travel, technically this could make it ever so slightly faster. Now a 80gb 7200rpm, vs a 200gb 7200rpm the 200 will be faster because it is much more dense. but faster being .1ms or less...

Thank you that is what i thought

about 20-30% faster than a 100GB 7200RPM,,, according to that review at least

Tom seems to agree
there are other advantages,
that $129 HD is a 7200.2 Momentus, it has G-Force Protection, which automatically moves the HD head away from the platter during a freefall,, that combined with strike zone should make the HD pretty drop resistant.
New hard drive option for 1520
