I just purchased the new m1710 with the 3 year complete care. I was wondering 3 years from now if my laptop breaks, does Dell replace it with a newer model or do they just repair my old one.

repair your old one. If they did the update with newer model tthing, everyone would buy it and never buy an other computer again, just keep on breaking it 6m o before the warranty dies.

Yeah, they'll repair your old laptop as long as they can. The only way I can see them giving you a new laptop is if your old laptop is unrepairable, and they don't have any other choice. Even if your laptop is no longer being sold, they will still just repair it.

Well, if a new computer is out that replaces your current one, and there are no parts left to build a computer of your model, they will send the new one with the closest specs.

My friend got a M170. Had issues, and had a replacement sent out. Sure as heck, it was a M1710
