Hey everyone,
After months of researching on this site I finally decided that a 1405 would fit my needs perfectly. I placed an order from the Dell Outlet and recieved my computer this past week (all along hoping for a good screen). The computer came in good shape with little to no cosmetic imperfections.
After reading on the computer for awhile I found my eyes strained. The viewing angles on the screen are pretty good, however the resolution seems a bit grainy. My girlfriend has an Inspiron 6000 and her screen seems clearer. Her sister has a 1405 as well, but the screen is worse than mine. I don't know if I am being overly picky or if I could do better on the screen. I was going to return it to Dell for a new one, but after seing the other 1405 screens I am hesitant.
Also when I go in to check the hardware through the control panel it says "Standar monitor types".
My system: e1405
T7200
1gb 2 dimms 533
120 gb hd
matte screen
Any help is greatly appreciated!

What about making changes to the brightness and such? These options are located in the bios and may help you a bit. Also what resolution are you running?

When I run it on or off battery on full brightness it looks okay, but still seems a bit grainy. I am not too sure how to change the brightness in the bios settings however I do change it using Fn + up/down. Are there any freeware programs that I could use to adjust the screens coloring or contrast seeing as how I do not have dedicated graphics??
Oh and to answer your question...I am running at 1280 by 800
Thanks for the response, and any help is appreciated!
New screen or stick with it???
