I have been tracking the deals on dell.com for some time and with EPP and the savings on the dell site i was able to get the xps 1530 to around 1350 with all the things i wanted. My questions are ..
    1. do i wait for the after christmas deals that may or may not be better?
    2. can i find a similar deal on a laptop with the same ram and gpu that has a decend 17" screen as well? (dell for some reason has a crappy 15.4 )
    3. Are there other sites that have as good of deals as dell is running lately?

oh and nice site and forums btw, you guys have been very helpful to me already.

1200x800 is a pretty standard resolution for a 15"4 screen. Many people find going higher makes text and icons too small. To equate a higher resolution with better is simply in the eye of the beholder, and in the opinion of this beholder, higher res is not better. I don't like micro-text and micro-cons.

My brother got a higher resolution on his E1505 and I find it kind difficult to read the text on many sites. I always find myself scale it up and use the scroll to right and left on IE7 and sometime firefox shift and scroll doesn't work on all text. So I have decided to stay at 1200X800 as well. Nice text size all around. I know its personal preferences, and if you can read good on 1440X900 or even 1680X1200, I'd say go for it. No need to bash everybody who has 1200X800, because it came out 40 years ago.
